Номер: DE0010311899A1

Safety cable for a ski piste preparation vehicle, to anchor it on steep slopes, has an optic fiber within the outer strands coupled to a light source at one end to prevent accidents

Номер: DE102004009797A1
Принадлежит:

The wire cable with an optic fiber strand, especially as a safety cable for a vehicle preparing a ski piste, has the optic fiber (10) in the outer gap between two outer wire strands (3), or within a dedicated groove (11). An intermediate plastics mass (2) forms a layer between the outer strands and the inner core (1). The optic fiber is of plastics clad silica (PCS) connected to a light source at one end, and neighboring wire strands can be given a luminescent coating.

An apparatus and method for the detection of damage to a rope sheath of a sheathed synthetic fiber rope includes at least one breaking element covered by the sheath and extending along the rope. If the breaking element is damaged, a predetermined detectable characteristic thereof changes indicating likely damage to the rope sheath. The number and spacing of the breaking elements can be selected to determine the extent of localized damage to be detected. A control device monitors the breaking element to detect rope damage should it occur, and initiates suitable measures should they be necessary.

CONCEPTS FOR DETECTING A DETERIORATION STATE OF A LOAD BEARING CAPACITY IN A SUSPENSION MEMBER ARRANGEMENT FOR AN ELEVATOR

Номер: US20180215585A1
Принадлежит: INVENTIO AG

Methods and devices detect a deterioration state of a load bearing capacity in an elevator suspension member arrangement having several suspension members, such as belts, including electrically conductive cords incorporated into an elastomer material. Deterioration is determined by applying alternating electric voltages to the cords included in legs of a circuitry. Phase shifts between the alternating voltages, for example by determining sum voltages and/or differential voltages, provide valuable information about a condition of the belt. A fixation arrangement of the suspension member arrangement is adapted to enable or simplify the proposed measurements. Furthermore, counting a number of performed bending cycles provides further information to be taken into account for determining the current deterioration state of the belts. Overall, deteriorations in a suspension member such as broken cords, shunts between cords, connections between cords and ground potential and/or deterioration due to corrosion of cords may be easily detected. 146-. Measurement of Lay Length of Wire Rope

Номер: US20150285767A1
Автор: OUELLETTE Sylvain
Принадлежит:

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for measuring lay length of a wire rope having a number or external strands to form a rope having spiral grooves in the surface between the strands. A magnetic flux circuit is generated, part of which is formed within a region of the advancing wire rope. Variations of magnetic field around the region of the rope or variations of magnetic flux entering or leaving the rope are sensed by at least two sensors arranged around the rope. Signals from the sensors are subtractively combined to eliminate variations due to off-axis movements of the rope, and the combined signals reveal an oscillating pattern due to the undulating surface of the rope. Linking the oscillating pattern to distance along the rope reveals the lay length, which corresponds to a number of oscillations which is the same as the number of strands at the surface. 1. A method of measuring lay length of a wire rope , comprising:advancing a wire rope in a direction of a central axis of the rope while permitting limited transverse movements of the wire rope, the wire rope having a number of spirally wound external strands with grooves between the strands causing the rope to have a spirally grooved outer surface undulating in surface height from the central axis, and having lay length over which each of the strands completes a single circumferential spiral path around the central axis of the wire rope;establishing a magnetic flux circuit, part of which magnetic flux circuit occupies a region of the advancing wire rope;sensing changes of magnetic field strength or magnetic flux in said region of the wire rope due to variations of proximity of the wire rope from fixed positions spaced circumferentially around the wire rope, said positions being radially aligned with points on said wire rope at which the surface heights of the wire rope differ due to said undulating surface, and generating signals corresponding to changes of magnetic field or magnetic flux sensed at ...

A belt containing steel cords, the steel cords containing strands made of steel filaments wherein the largest diameter filaments are at least intermittently positioned at the radially outer side of the steel cord. Such a configuration can be obtained by using steel cord constructions wherein the thickest filaments are positioned outside of the steel cord which is contrary to the current practice. In a further embodiment the largest diameter filaments fill up some or all of the valleys of the strands at their radially outer side. These monofilaments thus have the same lay length and direction as the strands in the steel cord. The advantage of putting the largest filaments at the outside is that they will break first and thus will be readily detectable by electrical, magnetic or visual means. In this way a belt is provided that can be monitored easier and more conveniently than prior art belts. 1. A belt comprising steel cords held in parallel arrangement to one another by an elastomer jacket , said steel cords comprising strands twisted together with a cord lay direction and cord lay length , wherein said strands comprise steel filaments twisted together , each of said steel filaments having a filament diameter ,whereinin said steel cord a group of largest diameter filaments have a filament diameter that is strictly larger than the remainder of the filaments, and wherein each of said largest diameter filaments is at least intermittently present at the radial outer side of said steel cord.2. Abrasion resistant omnidirectionally reflective retractable pet leash

Принадлежит: Marni Markell Hurwitz

A flexible abrasion resistant omnidirectionally reflective retractable pet leash has an omnidirectionally reflective pet leash housed within a retractable housing device. The omnidirectionally reflective pet leash reflects an incoming light beam back in the same direction as it was emanated. The reflected light beam provides accurate illumination of the pet leash and the location of the pet during dusk or nighttime hours. This retractable pet leash is created by surrounding a central braided rope of nylon or polyethylene fibers with a cylindrically braided reflective sleeve. The braided reflective sleeve is composed of braided narrow width reflective strips each comprising a plurality of reflective threads worked together to form a weave. Due to the braided weave of the reflective threads and the arrangement of the microscopic reflectors light incident thereon from virtually any angle is reflected back to its source. Advantageously, the fabric remains supple, facilitating extension and retraction of the leash. The braided construction enables the pet leash to reflect light omnidirectionally over a large angle of acceptance, thereby providing an improved measure of safety for both the pet and the pet handler.
