The invention relates to a slat wiring apparatus for wiring together slats 1 to form a fence and comprises a support means (2 figure 1), a series of plungers (5 figure 1), and a drive means. The apparatus supports a series of slats in spaced parallel relationship such that a first length of wire 3 is arranged transverse the slats. The plungers are then driven to contact and twist the wire, one after the other, to create a series of turns in the wire between each slat. A second wire 7 is driven across the slats by a drive means (8 figure 1) so that it feeds through the turns, and the plungers are then withdrawn. The slats are then securely held between the two lengths of wire. Each plunger may have a pair of spaced pins (9 figure 4) such that when the plunger contacts the first length of wire, the pins are positioned either side of the wire, forcing the wire into one of the turns as the plunger twists. A later embodiment relates to a method of wiring said slats together.

A barrier fence for use along the side of a roadway to contain a vehicle that travels off of the roadway into the barrier fence. The fence includes horizontal fence members which are typically cables supported by a plurality of posts supported vertically by the ground. The horizontal fence members are held to the posts with hooks that extend from slots defined by the posts. The horizontal fence members are placed in tension in normal use. A method to secure an apparatus within a chain-link fence and the like , comprising the steps of:(a) orienting and inserting the apparatus via its gap, onto one wire segment of the chain-link fence;(b) at the point where one wire segment of the chain-link fence twists around a second wire segment of the chain-link fence, pivoting the apparatus towards the plane defined by the chain-link fence until the gap of the apparatus passes around a second wire segment that is substantially aligned with the inserted wire segment; and(c) turning the apparatus in either a clockwise or counter-clockwise direction until said gap is no longer aligned with said second wire segment of the chain-link fence, thus confining the apparatus on the chain-link fence.3. A tensioned barrier, comprising a chain link or mesh fence providing a secure perimeter, is provided. The fence is tensioned by grabbing and holding one end of the mesh link, wrapping the mesh around a perimeter of the fence poles, including wrapping the mesh around the outside of corner poles, pulling the mesh at its distal end to create a tension in the mesh and then grabbing the distal end of the mesh and securing it to the final fence pole. The fence is created using a high strength small weave mesh that resists cutting and climbing.
