The automatic door of the present invention includes a retractable door stop enabling reverse rotation of the door, and sensors for automatically setting and resetting the automatic door controls when the door is opened and closed in either direction.

A latch dogging assembly comprises an electromagnet and an actuator mounted on a bracket. A guide slide is pivotally mounted on the bracket with a lead block coupled to the guide slide. A guide pin rides along an inner surface of the bracket causing the guide slide to pivot. A pawl is slidably engaged with the guide slide. A guide link includes a post. An armature is mounted to the panic bar and the post engages the pawl. When the actuator is energized to move the lead block, the pawl engages the post to pivot the armature and thereby cause the panic bar to move from the extended position to the depressed position. When the electromagnet is energized the armature is magnetically held preventing reverse pivoting of the guide link. A method for fully retracting a door latch is also provided.

A latch dogging assembly (42 Fig 2) comprises an electromagnet 48 and an electric actuator 46 mounted on a bracket. A guide link 78 is pivotally mounted on the bracket and has a pawl (74 Fig 6) is slidably engaged with it. An armature 43 is mounted to the panic bar and the post engages the pawl. When the actuator is energized to move a shaft 47 connected to the pawl, the pawl pivots the armature which is connected to a dogging bar mount (39 Fig 3) and causes the panic bar to move from the extended position to the depressed position. When the electromagnet is energised the armature is magnetically held preventing reverse pivoting of the guide link and holds the latch in a retracted or dogged position. Also claimed is a method for fully retracting a door latch by monitoring the position of a latch in a predetermined time limit and in another invention by changing the indexing rate on a motor.

A locking mechanism for a bored lock has a lock chassis, a locking element, a motor housing, a reversible electric motor, an auger, and a spiral lock spring disposed between the locking element and the motor. The motor may drive the auger in a first or second rotational direction to move the spring towards/away from the motor to reduce/increase spring force on the locking element, thereby moving the locking element to an unlocked/locked position. One of the locking element and motor housing has a projection while the other has a guideway for slideably receiving the projection. The guideway prevents rotation of the locking element with respect to the motor as it moves between locked and unlocked positions. The projection and guideway are interlocked to prevent disassembly of the locking element and motor housing.
