An access door has a rectangular outer frame adapted to be set in a wall and having two longitudinal sides and two transverse sides defining four corners and a rectangular inner frame dimensioned to fit within the outer frame. Respective hinge plates fixed at corners at ends of one of the longitudinal sides of the inner frame each have an outer part bearing outward on a back face of the outer frame for holding the inner frame in the outer frame and for pivoting of the inner frame in the outer frame generally about the one longitudinal side. Each of the plates is formed with a transversely outwardly open centering notch. Respective centering tabs on the outer frame are engageable in the centering notches of the hinges.

To seal the joint and/or inhibit frost from developing along the joint, some example panel assemblies disclosed herein include a seal member with touch-and-hold elements plus sealing edges extending laterally in opposite directions. In some examples disclosed herein, the touch-and-hold elements couple two panels together while the sealing edges (e.g., foam strip or double looped sheet of material) block air from flowing through the touch-and-hold elements. 1. The present invention is a novel hinge design that allows unique operation of the lid for a container, box, storage chest, ice chest or similar item. In addition to the lid being able to flip up on two hinges as is traditional, the present invention allows the lid to swivel to one side or the other, while remaining in the horizontal plane. This is accomplished, in the exemplary embodiment, by means of two inventive ball-and-socket hinges each of which can have its ball disengaged from its socket. If one ball-and-socket hinge is thus disengaged, the lid is then free to rotate horizontally around the other ball-and-socket hinge, thereby swiveling the lid to one side and effectively opening the box or container. The lid, when opened in this fashion, is amply supported by the end of the box over which it sits, and can act as a table or flat surface for organizing items as they are transferred to or from the box or container. The horizontal lid can swivel in either direction, providing broad access to either end of the container. If broader access is desired, the lid can also be completely removed by simultaneously disengaging both hinges. 1. The second portion includes a second slot extending at least partially along a width of the bent plate and disposed substantially perpendicular with respect to a central axis of the bent plate. The second slot is adapted to interconnect with respect to the first slot to pivotally move the hinge assembly between an open position and a close position. In the open position, the first portion of the bent plate is adapted to contact a first half section on a first side of the flat plate. 1. The hinge is formed by an L-shaped member extending from a lip surrounding a planar top formed in the cover. A flange having rearward and downward extending portions extends from the rear wall of the cabinet base. The hinge engages a slot formed in the downward extending portion of the flange. The distance from the hinge to the cover top is less than the distance from the slot to the upper edge of the rear wall on which the cover top rests. Thus, rotation of the cover into the closed position with the hinge engaged causes elastic deformation of the hinge, thereby creating a spring force which clamps the cover onto the base. Elastic deformation in the flange imparts addition clamping force. Sufficient clearance is provided for this elastic deformation by either sloping the rearward extending portion of the flange or sloping the planar top of the cover.

A hinge is disclosed comprising a mounting member for mounting to a stationary operational surface and having a hinge portion formed along the longitudinal extent of the mounting member. An elongate shaft is included having a hollow cross-sectional profile and formed along the longitudinal extent of the hinge portion. An elongate mouth is formed at the opening of the shaft and has a cross-sectional profile of smaller extent than the cross-sectional profile of the elongate shaft. A flap attachment member including an elongate hinge member is disclosed having a cross-sectional shape that conforms to the cross-sectional profile of the elongate shaft, and being received in the shaft and retained by the elongate mouth to thereby rotatably couple the flap attachment member to the mounting member.

A magnetic hinge defining a hinge axis includes first and second hinge plates of non-magnetic material and first and second magnets disposed therein, respectively, for movement therewith. The plates are generally parallel and independently pivotable about the hinge axis between a closed orientation, wherein the plates are essentially superposed, and an open orientation, wherein the plates are essentially not superposed. The first and second magnets are essentially superposed, generally coaxial with the hinge axis, and in the same magnetic orientation.

DOLLAR A Um den Scharnieraufbau (13) konstruktiv einfacher zu gestalten, ist vorgesehen, dass zumindest ein Abschnitt (28) zumindest einer der beiden Kopplungflächen in Schwenkrichtung exzentrisch ist. DOLLAR A Die Erfindung bezieht sich weiterhin auf eine Schutzvorrichtung, bei der eine Abdeckung und ein Rahmen durch zumindest einen erfindungsgemäßen Scharnieraufbau verbunden sind.

A door latch assembly, such as for a battery compartment of an electronic device, is disclosed. The door latch assembly comprises a housing having a pair of opposed, spaced flattened pins defining an elongated surface having a depth and a generally perpendicular narrowed surface having a thickness. The door latch assembly further comprises a door having first and second clasps for receiving the respective first and second pins. Each of the clasps includes an aperture and a slot leading to the aperture. The aperture has a breadth substantially equal to the depth of the elongated surface, and the slot has a gap substantially equal to the thickness of the narrowed surface. When assembling the door to the housing, each of the slots slides over the respective elongated surface to receive and capture the respective pin in the respective aperture.

The covering possesses a frame (1) in which a lid (3) can be inserted. A recess (6) for receiving a retaining web (8) moulded on the lid edge is provided in the frame (1). At a distance from the recess (6), a niche (9) having an oblique bearing surface (18) is cut out from the frame (1). In the closed position of the lid (3) a supporting surface (20) arranged on a cam (10) on the lid edge rests on the bearing surface (18) of the frame (1), the lid (3) being displaced, during closure thereof, towards the recess (6) by a supporting surface (20) and thus adopting a locking position.
