The first end plug includes an inner end, an outer end, first engaging structures extending from the inner end and a first vertical groove in the outer end. The engaging structures are positioned within the first cavity in an assembled configuration. The first end flap includes a relatively flat first body and a first flange structure. The first flange structure is positioned in the first vertical groove in the assembled configuration to secure the first end flap to the first end plug.

A sensing edge for causing a closing door to open by actuating a device upon force being applied to the sensing edge. The sensing edge includes an elongate outer sheath compressible upon application of external pressure. A sensor is positioned within the elongate outer sheath for sensing the application of force to the sheath. Upon force being applied to the sheath, the sensor actuates a device for controlling the door. The sheath includes an aperture extending through one of the end surfaces. Electrical conductors that are in electrical communication with the sensor extend through the aperture, outwardly from the one end surface beyond the side surface of the door and into the internal area of a track to which the door is mounted. The sensor includes a flexible hood which extends outwardly from one end surface of the sheath and into the track area. The hood has second and third apertures extending therethrough. An installer of the sensing edge can place the conductors through either one of the second and third apertures and therefore allow for the electrical conductors to be positioned proximate either the first or second side surface of the door such that the sensing edge is bilateral.

The closing edge (N) of the window and the corresp. window frame (D,L) are fitted with conducting strips. The test circuit (P) provides a pulsed test signal and measures the resistance between the window edge and the seals to detect any obstruction. The test signals are of a level safe for contact. The test circuit stops the window closing drive and reverses the drive. A safety interlock has an emergency control which overrides the safety circuit to enable the driver to close the window in an emergency e.g. to prevent a thief reaching into the vehicle. The system is also used to detect the window closed position and to switch off the servo drive. ADVANTAGE - Simple protection, no complex contact switches required.

A door, such as a fire door or a security gate, for blocking a throughway or opening in an exterior or interior wall of a building, such as a doorway or countertop window, has an open position and a closed position. A force, such as gravity, a counter weight or a spring, tends to move the door toward its closed position. In the case of the fire door, a disengageable stop holds the door in its open position. The disengageable stop includes a brake actuator for releasing a brake. An expandable linkage, having a normal length and having an elongate length when an external force is applied thereto, has a first end connected to the brake actuator. A second end of the expandable linkage is connected to a fire condition sensitive device, which releases the second end upon a fire indicative condition. With the fire door, or any other type of door, a DC generator is connected to the door and produces power as the door moves from its open position to its closed position. A DC motor is also connected to the door and has an ability to move the door from its closed position to its open position. A first power terminal is connected to the motor, and adapted to receive a second terminal of a portable, rechargeable DC battery.
