A plurality of sensors in a physical array is used to detect such objects in the path of a barrier as it moves from closed to open and vice versa. The output of each respective sensor is compared to all of the others. In the preferred embodiment, if all of the sensor outputs are the same, it is assumed that there is no obstruction. However, if the output of any one sensor differs from the output of another sensor, it is assumed that there is an obstruction and the gate is either stopped or reversed before contact is made.

A sensor may detect glare from a recorded image and a shade position of a motorized window treatment may be controlled based on the position of the detected glare in the image. A luminance of a pixel may be calculated in an image and a glare condition may be detected based on the luminance of the pixel. For example, the sensor may start at a first pixel in a bottom row of pixels and step through each of the pixels on the bottom row before moving to a next row of pixels. When the sensor detects a glare condition, the sensor may cease processing the remaining pixels of the image. The sensor may calculate a background luminance of the image by reordering the pixels of the image from darkest to lightest and calculating the luminance of a pixel that is a predetermined percentage from the darkest pixel. 1. A method for detecting a location of a glare condition for controlling a shade position of a motorized window treatment , the method comprising:obtaining one or more images of a view outside of a window on which the motorized window treatment is installed, each of the one or more images comprising rows of pixels; starting at a first pixel on a first row of pixels of the at least one image, and', 'stepping through each of the multiple pixels on the first row before continuing to a next row of pixels to determine the respective luminance of each of the multiple pixels of the at least one image until the location of the glare condition is detected, wherein processing the at least one image ceases upon detection of the location of the glare condition to avoid determination of the respective luminance for remaining unprocessed pixels of the at least one image; and, 'processing the rows of pixels to calculate a respective luminance of multiple pixels of at least one image of the one or more images, wherein processing the rows of pixels comprisesdetecting, in response to the luminance of at least one of the multiple pixels of the at least one image, the location of the glare ...

The invention relates to a device for monitoring the door area of an at least partially glazed door. The device comprises a transmitter, an image recorder, a control unit, and an evaluation unit. The transmitter is used to emit at least one transmission pulse of electromagnetic radiation. The image recorder comprises a receiver matrix having at least one first receiver block, which has a plurality of first receivers. The first receivers of the first receiver block are designed and arranged in such a way that they receive reflected signal components of the transmission pulse in a second predetermined distance range of an outer region of the door area, the distance range being determined in relation to the door. Each first receiver has a memory unit which is designed to integrate and store the reflected signal components received. The control unit is configured to trigger a transmission pulse of the transmitter and to activate the first receivers of the first receiver block for a predetermined first receiving period after a predetermined first idle period which is longer than a period in which a signal of the transmission pulse reflected by the glazed door reaches the first receivers of the first receiver block. The evaluation unit is configured to read the stored signal components of the respective receiver and to process them into topography image data and to compare the topography image data with stored reference image data for a free door area, or is configured to read the stored signal components of the respective receiver and to determine a distance value on that basis and to compare the respective distance value with a stored reference value for a free door area.
