The door (1) can be fitted into openings of varying degrees of dimensional accuracy, having lower wheels (8) and overhead runners (29) elastically fixed to the door panel; this elasticity or springing effecting the permanent bearing of wheels and runners on their vertically opposed guide tracks (6, 26). Standardization of door fabrication is achieved. The runners are in the form of horizontal plates (29) carried on vertically sprung (38) sliding rods (30), wheels and runners locating at door corners, and a vertically opposed runner and wheel affix to a common vertical section which serves as the door frame and handle (19). The overhead guide has associated springs (48) which compensate for uneven ceilings.

TITLE WINDOW SASH COUNTERBALANCE WITH VARYING LIFT ABSTRACT A counterbalance for a window sash (28) includes a torsion spring (10), a follower nut (20), and a spiral rod (22) threadably engaged with the follower nut (20). The spiral rod (22) has a pitch that is varied along one part of its length to produce a substantially constant lifting force throughout most of a range of sash travel between a lowered position and an intermediate position. However, the pitch is further varied along another part of the length of the spiral member to produce a larger lifting force within a remaining portion of the range of sash travel from the intermediate position to the raised position.
