The cap has two bent-over hooks which grip the underside of the flange of the radiator filler neck. The cap has a central hole through which a vertical cylindrical filter casing is inserted. The filter has a lower flange which is pressed against the flange of the radiator neck by a spring round the outside of the filter between the filter flange and the top of the filler cap. The filter has a perforated bottom plate and contains lead balls. It has a vent to atmosphere at the top. Excess pressure can be relieved through the air spaces within the filter which also allow water to overflow. None of the parts is immersed in the water and therefore nothing corrodes.

자동차의 엔진부에 구성되는 라디에이터의 엔진 과열로 인해 발생되는 냉각수를 교환하기 위해서 라디에이터 캡을 오픈시 증기에 의해 화상을 입는 것을 방지할 수 있도록 라디에이터의 상부 캡의 일측에 홀을 형성하여 증기를 외부로 배출할 수 있도록 한 자동차용 라디에이터구조에 관한 것이다. 자동차의 라디에이터(10)의 상부에 구성되는 나사캡(20)의 일측에 배출공(21)을 형성하고 상기 나사캡(20)을 잠그는 나비 너트(30)의 하단부 일측에 홀(31)을 형성함으로서 상기 나사캡(20)의 배출공(21)과 나비 너트(30)의 홀(31)을 일치시켜 라디에이터(10)의 내부에 있는 증기를 외부로 배출시킬 수 있도록 구성됨을 기술적 구성상의 기본 특징으로 한다.
