The device controls coolant flow in a motor cooling system of a vehicle. A mixing valve (10) placed an the auxiliary output (SA), ensures the selective flow of cooling fluid from the electrical traction chain through the auxiliary output, thus maintaining different temperatures in different sections of the traction system. The cooling system for the hybrid drive train of a vehicle includes a coolant fluid circulating through a radiator. This comprises a main cooling circuit for the thermal engine with several channels, and an auxiliary circuit dedicated to cooling the electric drive train, also with several channels and linked to the main circuit. The auxiliary output of the radiator allows the passage of coolant fluid which has been cooled to a temperature less than that of the main output, directed towards the electrical traction chain. The radiator (1) has a further branch (9) providing coolant fluid to the thermal engine (3), connected to the radiator input (E) with a mixing valve (10) placed an the auxiliary output (SA), receiving on a further input the fluid provided by the auxiliary circuit. The vehicle subsystems are configured to generate a plurality of subsystem temperature signals that are indicative of a measured temperature for each vehicle subsystem; The vehicle controller is operable to generate a desired fan speed signal for each vehicle subsystem in response to each subsystem temperature signal and to compare each desired fan speed signal to each other to determine a maximum desired fan speed signal. The vehicle controller then controls a fan 160 such that the fan reaches a fan speed that is equal to or greater than the maximum desired fan speed signal. Preferably the subsystems may include a transmission unit, a generator, starter-generator, power electronic circuitry, a dc/dc converter and a motor.

A cooling system includes an electric pump, a cooling target temperature sensor, a coolant temperature sensor, and an electronic control unit. The electric pump pumps a coolant to a circulation channel connected to an inlet and an outlet of a cooling channel in which heat is exchanged with a cooling target. The cooling target temperature sensor detects a cooling target temperature. The coolant temperature sensor is arranged upstream of the inlet in the circulation channel, and detects a coolant temperature. The electronic control unit controls driving of the electric pump so that a discharge flow rate of the electric pump matches a target flow rate, and sets the target flow rate using an equation based on a reference value obtained by dividing a difference between the cooling target temperature and a target cooling temperature of the cooling target by a difference between the cooling target temperature and the coolant temperature.
