The flow obstacle may, for example, be wire strands (29). The flow obstacles are capable of decreasing the acoustic noise emitted by the air duct while maintaining a low flow resistance since the center part of the duct cross-section remains unaffected by the flow obstacles. The flow obstacles may advantageously be arranged in the discharge area of flap valves since so that the valves are prevented from whistling when they are only open a small way. In order to simplify the manufacturing and assembly costs, the flow obstacles may be disposed in the area of a flanged joint in the air intake duct.

In order to form a noise suppressor in a hose of e.g. a motor vehicle, modular portions are connected in series to define suppression chambers with particular noise suppression characteristics. Those characteristics are due to the volume of each chamber, to the size of the apertures from the chambers to the central duct of the suppressor, and optionally due to spacers which are inserted into at least one aperture of the chambers to alter the effective open area of that aperture. Such spacers may also be used in which the noise suppressor is not modular. Where modular portions are used, it is preferable that each chamber is bounded by parts of two modular portions. A wall of one modular portion may then close the chamber in another modular portion, making the manufacture of the modular portions easier. Also disclosed is the use of a mass acting as a damper, which may be a noise suppressor as previously discussed, within a hose. The mass is connected to the hose by resilient means, e.g. electrometric material.

Damping devices of this type are needed for damping the noises caused by ancillary components in the admission device. In order to compensate the resulting additional complexity of the device as far as possible, the invention provides solutions permitting simple production procedures and flexible adjustment to the frequency bands to be damped. For example, in an admission pipe (10) consisting of welded shells (21, 22), the welding catching edge (27) can be used for separating a resonance volume (29) if the welding catching edges form a large enough gap. This measure means, e.g. that there is no extra need for structural components, only a slightly greater material requirement. Admission acoustics can also be improved retroactively using this measure by making small changes to the casting tools for the shells (21, 22).

La présente invention concerne un dispositif d'atténuation acoustique en particulier pour une ligne d'admission d'un moteur thermique à combustion interne, et une telle ligne d'admission l'incorporant.Un dispositif (201) selon l'invention comporte :- une enveloppe tubulaire extérieure (106) qui présente deux portions d'extrémité (110 et 111), et au moins deux renflements périphériques (119 et 120) qui s'étendent radialement vers l'extérieur à partir des portions d'extrémité et qui sont reliés entre eux par un rétrécissement (118), et- une structure de conduite intérieure (205) solidaire des portions d'extrémité et en communication fluide avec l'intérieur de chaque renflement, de sorte à délimiter une chambre annulaire de résonance (216, 217) avec ce renflement, cette structure comprenant au moins deux tronçons cylindriques (102 et 104, 202 et 204) axialement juxtaposés de part et d'autre d'un espace axial de séparation (112, 212).Selon l'invention, les chambres formées par ces renflements communiquent entre elles, radialement entre le rétrécissement et la structure de conduite, par ledit espace formé en regard du rétrécissement.

The device (1) has a conduit structure (10) made of thermoplastic or metal material and arranged radially internal to a radially external tubular envelope (4). The envelope is constituted by deformable and flexible conduits (2, 3) axially mounted on both sides and contacted with a radial flange (13a) of the structure, where the flange forms a circumferential bulge for an axial central portion (7) of the envelope. A resin intake manifold is provided with two separated bodies manufactured by connecting protrusions of weld portions of the separated bodies to each other in accordance with a vibration welding, and a cover wall in which one of the weld portions is arranged in an inner side or an outer side of the protrusion with leaving space with the protrusion. The protrusions of the weld portions are respectively provided with parallel protrusion portions extending in parallel to a vibrating direction of the vibration welding, and a cover wall arranged at a position in an orthogonal direction to the vibrating direction in the parallel protrusion portions is provided with an extension portion extending to the separated body in the other side welded to the separated body provided with the cover wall, in such a manner as to prevent a burr generated at a time of welding the parallel protrusion portion from getting over the cover wall arranged at the position in the orthogonal to the vibrating direction in the parallel protrusion portion. A recess groove receiving the extension portion is arranged in a side of the other side separated body.
