A shut-off valve or connecting valve capable of connecting a fuel supply to a fuel cell is disclosed. The valve comprises a first valve component and a second valve component. Each valve component has an outer housing and a biased slidable member disposed inside the housing forming an internal seal. During the connection process, the two valve components establish an inter-component seal. Afterward, in one suitable embodiment the slidable member moves inward and opens the internal seal in the valve component to establish a flow path. In another embodiment, the slidable member moves inward and exposes a first filler and the first filler abuts a second filler in the other valve component to establish a flow path. In other embodiments, at least one valve component is sized and dimensioned to limit access to the internal seal.

A male and female set of hydraulic coupler cartridges mate such that one part of the coupler can be left in place, e.g. the female coupler, with the other portion of the coupler, e.g. the male coupler, being removably connected or disconnected. Valves within each cartridge comprise an actuator and springs within each cartridge urge the valves into a closed, sealing position. The invention relates to a connector (10) for a fluid conduction system comprising:—a female coupling part (12);—a male coupling part (14) for inserting into the female coupling part (12) along a longitudinal axis (16) of the connector (10); and—controlling means for locking/unlocking the inserted male coupling part (12) within the female coupling part (14) and for controlling the fluidic coupling of the two coupling parts (12, 14) by rotating said two coupling parts (12, 14) against one another about the longitudinal axis (16); wherein a portion of each of the coupling parts (12, 14) is realized as a shut-off valve (18, 24) with a valve body (20, 26) and a rotatable slider element (22, 28), wherein the rotatable slider element (22, 28) of each shut-off valve (18, 24) is in a compulsory closed position when the two coupling parts (12, 14) are unlocked; and wherein the rotatable slider element (22, 28) of each shut-off valve (18, 24) is transferable between the closed position and an open position only if the two coupling parts (12, 14) are locked by use of the controlling means. The fluid coupling assemblies include a first coupling member, a second coupling member magnetically engageable with the first coupling member, and a seal member disposed between a portion of the first coupling member and a portion of the second coupling member. A magnetic engagement of the first coupling member and the second coupling member unseals a fluid flow path therebetween. In certain examples, the first coupling member is sealed by a valve member and the second coupling member includes an activation member. When engaged, the valve member is moved from a closed position to an open position by the activation member, thereby unsealing the fluid flow path. A magnetic force between the first coupling member and the second coupling member can be chosen such that the members disengage when a predetermined fluid flow path pressure is reached.

In general, installation of a large bore hot stab connection is performed by inserting a hot stab into a receptacle and, if present, rotating a handle to lock the hot stab into the receptacle. A valve assembly () wherein movement of a first securing means () is guided by a cam () and follower () arrangement in order to secure and release a probe () or socket () relative to a closing member (), such as a sheath () or a piston (), of the other of the probe () or socket (). The probe () and socket () are coupled by relative movement in a coupling direction. Suitably, the probe () and socket () each include a fluid passageway () that is mated in use when the probe () is fully inserted into the socket (). Here, the fluid passageway () in the probe () has an exit () on a circumferential face of the probe () and the fluid passageway () in the socket () has an exit () on a circumferential face of the socket (). Each closing member () closes one of the apertures, i.e. the exits (). In use, the securing means () is able to secure the closing member () of the probe () in order to restrict relative movement of the closing member () of the probe () and the probe (). Consequently the securing means () can abut the respective parts at a face () that is orthogonal to the separation direction thereby avoiding bending moments on the securing means () and reducing the risks of the parts jamming. 1. Fluid transfer device and method that allows for sterile wet connections, allows the connection to be reversed, and allows the connection to be reconnected, while leaving the connectors sterile and reusable under pressure. In certain embodiments, the device includes a first member and a second member, the latter adapted to receive the former in locking engagement upon actuation of the device to create fluid communication between the two in a sterile manner. Each of the members include a door that when opened, allows the first member to be linearly displaced into the second member to allow fluid to be transferred. A quick connect/disconnect coupling having a female coupler and a corresponding male coupler. The female coupler has a non-spill configuration and includes a housing and a valve body slidably movable in the housing. A valve member is slidably movable in the valve body toward and away from a valve seat, the valve member being configured to engage the male coupler. A piston is interposed between a main cavity and a trap chamber of the female coupler. The piston may be fixed to the valve member for common movement, and may include an internal flow passage for enabling fluid connection between the main cavity and trap chamber.
