A dummy sensor for carrying out this method includes an expansible head which may be mechanically or pneumatically operated to fix the sensor in a water tube.

According to the present invention, a force applied to the truss is offset; the length and height are able to be adjusted at the same time; and the truss is reinforced without deforming and damaging, thereby largely improving a quality and reliability of a product. In the method, instructions are given to the preset counter and they are compared with the contents of the objective counter, whereupon the device is shifted in the direction of reducing a difference resultant from the comparison. A robotic tubesheet walker having two rails connected by a central hinge, wherein the central hinge can be opened or closed by an actuation device. This self-propelled equipment is introduced into the pipework by starting at the water boxes of the steam generators, without an operator having to enter these boxes. It draws aside automatically before the obstructions situated in this pipework, such as thimbles for measurement probes. It comprises 2 trolleys 911 connected by universal joints 936 to a push-pull jack 935. These trolleys are in free rotation on the bearing 938. They have 3 arms 913 which open when actuated by the jacks 925. A bogie 915 at the end of the arms ensures guidance by the omnidirectional rollers 918 and clamping by the skid 928. On colliding with obstructions, a shoe 918 with a deflector 930 causes the rotation of 911 around the axis 937 and moves the arms aside before the obstructions. This mechanical equipment, provided with appropriate probes, is intended for checking pipework.

A robotic tubesheet walker having two rails connected by a central hinge, wherein the central hinge can be opened or closed by an actuation device. Upon each rail is mounted a carriage, wherein each carriage can move along its respective rail toward or away from the central hinge by means of a drive mechanism. Each carriage further contains at least two "gripper" attachment mechanisms, such as camlocks, to grip the tubesheet. The grippers either insert into tube holes within the tubesheet to fasten the respective carriage to the tubesheet, or retract to disengage. Further attached to the central hinge is a tool support fixture, and attached to the tool support fixture is a coupler that holds maintenance or inspection tools.

An actuator comprises a piston and cylinder in which the piston is biased axially inwardly of the end of the cylinder to an intermediate position by two bias members respectively on axially opposite sides of the piston. Limit means associated with each respective bias member serve to coact between the respective bias member and the cylinder to limit the inward travel of the respective bias member in the cylinder to establish a constant position at which the piston receives no net biasing force from the two bias members. Each limit means may comprise a flanged cup which moves with the inner end of the bias member and a stop surface in the cylinder for engaging the cup flange to limit its inward movement, and thus the inward movement of the bias member. In one application the actuator forms part of a surface traversing apparatus, with the cylinder being fixed to a base portion of the apparatus and the piston serving to selectively position anchor fingers connected thereto to each of three precise positions relative to the cylinder in response to fluid pressure on the piston.

Selon l'invention, à partir de l'ouverture d'accès à la chambre, on introduit dans le tube de guidate 15 et dans le tube d'eau 2 qui lui fait face l'extrémité d'une fausse sonde constituée par un tube 18 en une matière relativement rigide, mais pouvant néanmoins se courber légèrement, muni à ladite extrémité d'un moyen de fixation 19-20 au tube d'eau, commandable à partir de l'autre extrémité du tube, on fixe ladite extrémité au tube d'eau 2, et on desserre les mandrins de l'appareil porte-sonde, de sorte que cet appareil glisse le long du tube 18 de la fausse sonde vers l'ouverture d'accès et peut ainsi être évacué vers l'extérieur. L'invention a également pour objet une fausse sonde pour la mise en oeuvre de ce procédé et un procédé pour remettre en place un appareil porte-sonde à l'aide de cette fausse sonde.
