The part 1 is attached to a steel rod 5 which also closes the chamber 3, and carries an adjustable collar 7 with felt washer 71 to determine the depth to which the dipstick is lowered. A handle 11 is secured by a clip 10. An opening 13 is provided to ensure circulation of the oil into the chamber 2. The comparative liquid in chamber 3 may be replaced by comminuted solid material or sheet material. Two comparative chambers may be provided.

The outer end of the dip-stock is riveted at 17 to the cap 6, the rivet also mounting a double-leaf spring 18 for engagement with the inner surface of the tube 5. Vibration of the dipstick is prevented by forming it with an indentation 19 adapted to bear against the wall of the aperture 4 under the influence of an opposed leaf-spring 20.

A low fluid sensor for an internal combustion engine. The sensor includes a base with helically threaded post and a float slidably mounted on the post. The float rotates about the post as it moves longitudinally along it. In the preferred embodiment, eccentric mounting of the assembly along with its lobe shape act in concert with the pitch of the screw threads and fluid viscosity to dampen the buoyant movement of the float against fluid turbulence. At a predetermined level a latch spring on the float contacts an ignition circuit terminal and grounds the engine ignition circuit. A catch holds the float at the pre-determined level, preventing engine starting, so that the sensor may only be reset by addition of fluid and re-insertion of the dipstick.

A system, as an engine with a crankcase containing oil or a fluid mixed with oil, has a reservoir containing liquid that extends up to a level of the fluid. A dipstick support structure supports a dipstick on it so that the dipstick extends into the fluid past the level of the fluid, and so that the dipstick is manually removable from the dipstick support structure by a user. An electrical system is connected with the dipstick, and the electrical system electrically senses the level of the fluid based on an electrical characteristic of the dipstick that varies with the varying level of the fluid when the dipstick extends into it. The electrical characteristic may be capacitance of the dipstick detected by sequential charging and discharging of the dipstick to produce a square wave electrical signal the frequency of which corresponds to the level of fluid.

A method for monitoring the level to which railway lank cars are filled during the loading of liquid products is characterized in that, prior to beginning to fill a tank, a calculated tank loading level (H) is determined on the basis of the calculated temperature (t°) of a product to be loaded, the calculated loading level (H) is marked with the help of a load level monitoring device, which device includes a rod having a bar which is mounted at the calculated loading level (H), and which device is positioned within the tank. The next step involves visually monitoring the moment at which the level of the product to be loaded reaches the calculated loading level (H) marked by the bar. The invention is a dipstick apparatus generally consisting of a transparent tube, a handle, and a user-manipulated connector line with a lower stopper. Furthermore, above the handle, the line is shaped to limit displacement, maintain functionality, and improve ergonomics. The invention collects vehicular fluids via insertion into reservoirs or dipstick tubes, then a push and a pull upon the connector line. This action lowers and raises the stopper, allowing the fluid to equilibrate before entrapping it within the flexible tube of the invention. The dipstick is then extracted, and the user is able to determine the fluid level by measuring it against predetermined markings found on the flexible tube. In preferred embodiments, the device utilizes a transparent tube that is heat-resistant as well as flexible, in order to be as universally applicable as possible. Accordingly, the connector line is flexible and heat-resistant, and may be permanently connected to the stopper. 1. A tubular dipstick apparatus for collecting and measuring vehicular fluid levels via a transparent tube with a stopper at the bottom used to seal the tube , comprising:a handle assembly with one or more corresponding attachments;a transparent, flexible, heat-resistant tube;a system of fasteners to secure the tubing to the handle assembly;a flexible, heat-resistant line used to transfer force from the user to the stopper;a heat-resistant stopper connected to the line; anda means of connecting the line to itself above the handle.2.
