In one embodiment, a display device may include a color filter black mask layer having an arrangement of red, green, and blue color filter areas, where the red and/or blue color filter areas are substantially greater than the green color filter area. In some embodiments, the display device may include red and blue color filter pigment resin areas which may be disposed over the reflective areas to increase the overall amount of red and blue light that will be generated by reflected light to result in a total light reflection that is substantially neutral in color.

By using the light shielding film, the chipping condition of the opposing substrate near the chamfer can be accurately and rapidly evaluated. 1. A LCD panel comprising:an array substrate which comprises: a first transparent substrate, a data line and a pixel electrode disposed on an inner side of the first transparent substrate;a color filter substrate which comprises: a second transparent substrate comprising a pixel region and a non-pixel region, a color resin disposed in the pixel region, a first black matrix disposed in the non-pixel region and above the data line; and a common electrode overlaying the color resin and the first black matrix;wherein the first black matrix comprises: a flat bottom layer and a protrusion formed on the flat bottom layer, the protrusion has slant surfaces near a boundary between the non-pixel region and the pixel region, such that an electric field for rotating liquid crystal molecules at edges of the first black matrix is generated between the common electrode overlaying the slant surfaces and the pixel electrode.2. In the step of curing a resin for bonding a TFT substrate and a counter substrate each having an alignment film that has been optically aligned by using UV-light, damage to the alignment film due to the UV-light can be prevented without using a light shielding mask. A UV-light absorption layer is formed between each black matrix on the counter substrate. The TFT and counter substrates are sealed at their periphery by a resin that is cured by UV-light radiated from the counter substrate side. Since the absorption layer has a high absorbability to UV-light at a wavelength of 300 nm or less that degrades the alignment film, damage to the alignment film due to the UV-light for curing the resin can be prevented. Thus, provision of a light shielding mask for shielding the UV-light for the display region can be saved.

A shielding metal of an adjacent liquid crystal panel separated from a mother substrate remains at an outer end part of a terminal portion of a liquid crystal display panel. The shielding metal has a two-layered structure including first shielding metals arranged at predetermined pitches and second shielding metals arranged at predetermined pitches. An insulating layer is provided between the first and the second shielding metals. This makes it possible to prevent short-circuit in wirings on a flexible wiring substrate even if the wirings on the flexible wiring substrate are brought into contact with the first or the second shielding metal. 1. A liquid crystal display device including a TFT substrate with pixels each having a TFT and a pixel electrode arranged in a matrix , and a counter substrate having a color filter and a black matrix , the TFT substrate and the counter substrate being bonded by a sealing material , a liquid crystal being provided in an inner space defined by the TFT substrate and the counter substrate , and a part of the TFT substrate extending from the counter substrate serving as a terminal portion ,wherein a part of the TFT substrate except the terminal portion has a first light shielding metal formed to extend to an end part of the TFT substrate;the first light shielding metals each with a first width are arranged at an outermost end side of the terminal portion at predetermined pitches;second light shielding metals each with a second width are arranged below the first light shielding metals at predetermined pitches at the outermost end side of the terminal portion via an insulating film; andthe first light shielding metal and the second light shielding metal are partially overlapped in a planar view.2. A counter electrode formed on an array substrate has a plurality of slits within one pixel. The slit which is relatively short has bent edge portions in which edges of the slit are bent. The slits which are relatively long do not have bent edges. 1. A liquid crystal display apparatus comprising a pixel electrode and a counter electrode each formed on one of two substrates that hold a liquid crystal ,wherein at least one of said pixel electrode and said counter electrode has a plurality of slits or a plurality of electrodes, andwherein only a relatively short slit among said plurality of slits or only a relatively short electrode among said plurality of electrodes has a bent edge portion in which an edge of said relatively short slit or said relatively short electrode is bent.2. The liquid crystal display apparatus according to claim 2 ,wherein said bent edge portion has a correspondingly large bend angle when said slit or said electrode, which has said bent edge portion, is long.3. A liquid crystal display apparatus comprising a pixel electrode and a counter electrode each formed on one of two substrates that hold a liquid crystal claim 2 ,wherein at least one of said pixel electrode and said counter electrode has a plurality of slits or a plurality of electrodes,wherein each of said plurality of slits or each of said plurality of electrodes has a bent edge portion in which an edge of each of said plurality of slits or each of said plurality of electrodes is bent, andwherein said bent edge portion disposed in a relatively long slit among said plurality of slits or a relatively long electrode among said plurality of electrodes has a bend angle larger than a bend angle of said bent edge portion disposed in a relatively short slit among said plurality of slits or a relatively short electrode among said plurality of ...
