As new images are used to update the 3D reconstructions of each breathing phase the values of the surrogate associated with that phase are also updated. This means that the correlation with the surrogate can also continue to be evaluated, and the correlation refined, thus improving the ability of the system to track the motion of the target.

Methods and systems for processing a video for stabilization and retargeting are described. A recorded video may be stabilized by removing shake introduced in the video, and a video may be retargeted by modifying the video to fit to a different aspect ratio. Constraints can be imposed that require a modified video to contain pixels from the original video and/or to preserve salient regions. In one example, a video may be processed to estimate an original path of a camera that recorded the video, to estimate a new camera path, and to recast the video from the original path to the new camera path. To estimate a new camera path, a virtual crop window can be designated. A difference transformation between the original and new camera path can be applied to the video using the crop window to recast the recorded video from the smooth camera path.

The tracking and compensation of patient motion during a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) acquisition is an unsolved problem. A self-encoded marker where each feature on the pattern is augmented with a 2-D barcode is provided. Hence, the marker can be tracked even if it is not completely visible in the camera image. Furthermore, it offers considerable advantages over a simple checkerboard marker in terms of processing speed, since it makes the correspondence search of feature points and marker-model coordinates, which are required for the pose estimation, redundant. Significantly improved accuracy relative to a planar checkerboard pattern is obtained for both phantom experiments and in-vivo experiments with substantial patient motion. In an alternative aspect, a marker having non-coplanar features can be employed to provide improved motion tracking. Such a marker provides depth cues that can be exploited to improve motion tracking. The aspects of non-coplanar patterns and self-encoded patterns can be practiced independently or in combination.

The respective weighted sum arrays are then decimated to produce a slow edge decimated array and a fast edge decimated array. The ratio of the maximum difference value between the decimated arrays and the maximum value from the fast edge decimated array, weighted by an appropriate factor, produces a localized maximum sharpness value, the log of which produces a dimensionless blur value.

Cardiac roadmapping consists in correctly overlaying a vessel map sequence derived from an angiogram acquisition onto a fluoroscopy sequence used during PTCA intervention. This enhanced fluoroscopy sequence however suffers from several drawbacks such as breathing motion, high noise level, and most of all suboptimal contrast-enhanced mask due to segmentation defaults. This invention proposes to reverse the process and to locally overlay the intervention device as seen in fluoroscopy onto an optimal contrast-enhanced image of a corresponding cycle. This drastically reduces or suppresses the breathing motion, it provides the high image quality standard of angiograms, and avoids segmentation defaults. This proposal could lead to a brand new navigation practice in PCI procedures.

Provided is a component mounting system and a mounting state inspection method in the component mounting system in which accurate mounting state inspection can be achieved with good operability. A board image capturing operation for image-capturing an inspection range of a board to be inspected to acquire captured image data is executed on the board before and after mounting work is executed on the board by inspection modules M 3 A and M 6 A. A difference between pre-mounting image data and post-mounting image data thus acquired is calculated so that each component is extracted by a component extraction processing portion 3 a . The shape and position of the extracted component are compared with inspection data indicating the shape and position of a normal component stored in advance so that whether the mounting state of each component on the board is good or not, is determined by a discrimination processing portion 3 b . Consequently, unstable elements in a system for recognizing and extracting each component based on color information of the component and the board can be eliminated to achieve accurate mounting state inspection with good operability.

X-ray images are projective, meaning that the 3D geometry is flattened along projection lines going from the source to the detector. In particular procedures, such as mapping or ablation, the interventional instrument lies on the wall of the organ. Using a 3D segmentation of this organ registered to the x-ray, the instrument necessarily lies on the intersection of this surface with its projection line. The line and the surface typically intersect with a segmentation surface at a discrete number of points (typically 2 for shapes such as the anterior of the LA). One then has just to disambiguate between these different possible locations to determine the exact location of the instrument. In this invention, we propose to use the apparent width of the instrument measured in x-ray images to accomplish this task.

Variable rate sprayer system and method of variably applying agrochemicals

Systems, methods and computer-readable media are provided for controlling a variable-rate sprayer for precision agriculture. Highly efficient digital image processing enables rapid and reliable control of the variable rate sprayer. In one embodiment, image processing uses only a subset of luminance, hue, saturation and intensity textural features to provide rapid image recognition. In another embodiment, an image is decomposed into RGB components and a G is ratio determined. For example, the textural method is useful in growing season where colour differentiation is difficult. The G ratio method is useful in early spring and late fall where colour differentiation is possible. These rapid computationally light methods enable a mobile sprayer system to identify crop or field conditions in real-time and to dispense an appropriate amount of agrochemical in a specific section of the sprayer boom where the target has been detected as the mobile sprayer advances.
