The signal transfer circuit consists of a primary 1. v. circuit and a galvanically separated, secondary mains voltage circuit. An external signal generator momentarily effects the mains voltage so that a signal appears at each position coupled to the mains. A receiver detects these signals for the release of secondary signals. By means of a semiconductor relay, the secondary circuit can be momentarily interrupted over a complete count of 50Hz half-waves. This momentary interruption can be used to release optical or acoustic signals. The length of this interruption can be selected from one to two mains frequency half-waves. This circuit enables an optical or acoustic signal to be conveyed to selected positions, e.g. rooms of a flat, from a remote position, e.g. a front door.

A system and method for detecting multiple incidents in a set of flow meter units attached to a set of water consuming units. A plurality of uniquely identified flow meter units are operatively connected to a central control unit. A controller including a temperature feedback mechanism is coupled to a client device. The temperature feedback mechanism is configured to be heated or cooled based on instructions received from the client device and contacts a portion of a user's body. In various embodiments, the temperature feedback mechanism is a Peltier device integrated into the controller. Various applications executing on the client device may implement instructions that, when executed by the client device, heat or cool the controller coupled to the client device to augment other content presented by an application.

In various embodiments, a smart home device is presented. The smart home device may include at least one sensor. The smart home device may include a speaker, a light, and a motion detection sensor that detects motion in an ambient environment of the smart home device. A processing system of the smart home device may be configured to select an illumination state based on a determined status. The processing system may cause the light to illuminate based on the selected illumination state. The processing system may determine a gesture has been performed in the ambient environment of the smart home device following the light being illuminated based on the selected illumination state. The processing system may output a detail of the status via the speaker corresponding to the illumination state in response to determining the gesture has been performed.
