Process and apparatus for the labelling of products

For the labelling of products with simple paper labels to be coated with a glue, these are prepunched in a paper strip, with the exception of joining bridges which are left intact. The joining bridges are severed shortly before the label is delivered to the product. The label is then detached from the paper strip and pushed onto the product in the original conveying direction of the paper strip, whilst the remaining paper strip is discharged by being deflected at an acute angle into another direction. The necessary glue coating is applied to the label or to the product shortly before the label passes onto the product.

COMPOSITE LABEL WEB ROLLS AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING SAME

Docket M-413 COMPOSITE LABEL WEB ROLLS AND METHOD OF MAKING AND USING SAME There is disclosed a plurality of composite label web rolls and a method of making and using same. The web roll is comprised of a carrier web on which a series of labels are releasably held by a coating of pressure sensitive adhesive. The composite web rolls are made by slitting a wide composite web roll. The slitting is done without regard to the pattern of the adhesive coating. There is further disclosed a method by which the same or substantially identical hand-held labelers can be used to dispense labels of different widths, wherein the composite label webs exhibit the same drag. In this way the forces required to manually actuate the labeler or labelers are kept to a minimum and are substantially equal.

LABEL FOR MICROSCOPE SLIDE AND METHOD OF APPLYING

There is disclosed a label for a microscope slide having a width and a thickness. The label includes a body having a top side and an underside with adhesive. The body defines at least a first panel, a second panel and a third panel. At least one of the panels covers the width of a section of the slide. The label includes at least two folding strip sections. A first of the strip sections is between the first panel and the second panel. A second of the strip sections is between the second panel and the third panel. The strip sections cover the thickness of the section of the slide. A pre-application fold lines demarcates the strip sections from the adjacent panels. The first panel receives information thereon or covers information on the slide, and the third panel is transparent. A method for applying a label is also disclosed.

TEAR-RESISTANT WRISTBAND

A wristband is provided. The wristband includes an elongated first body, an elongated second body, and an adhesive coupling system all of which are disposed in layers. The first body, which is the upper layer has an outer surface that is a printing surface. The second body, which is the lower layer is made from a comfortable fibrous sheet material. The adhesive is disposed between the two bodies, thereby coupling the bodies together. A portion at one end of the second body, a tab portion, has a release coating on the inner surface. In this configuration, the tab can be removed and the adhesive underneath can be attached to the other end of the wristband. As the tab is part of the second body, as opposed to a separate release liner, the wristband may be disposed on a roll and passed through a label printer.

A flexible web product having a plurality of strip-carried closure webs which may be removed from one portion of the strip and with another portion of the strip to provide an exposed portion of a pressure-sensitive surface on the closure web and a shielded portion of that surface. The exposed portion may then be applied to a portion of an article to be fastened and the shield may be removed later to expose the remaining pressure-sensitive adhesive so that the remaining pressure-sensitive adhesive of the closure web may be applied to another portion of the article to be fastened or to a different article.

A label web and method utilize a substrate, first and second longitudinally spaced label arrays each including two or more double-sided adhesive labels removably attached to the substrate, and a peelable protective covering web extending generally coextensive with the substrate. The label arrays and the peelable protective web are configured such that the peelable protective web is selectively removable to expose the first label array while remaining removably attached to the second label array, with both the first and second label arrays remaining removably attached to the substrate, to thereby facilitate removal of all labels in the first label array as a group while the peelable protective covering web remains in place over the second label array. 1. A label web , comprising:a substrate;first and second longitudinally spaced label arrays with at least one label array including two or more double-sided adhesive labels removably attached to the substrate; anda peelable protective covering web extending generally coextensive with the substrate and removably attached to the first and second label arrays of double-sided adhesive labels in such a manner that the peelable protective covering web is selectively removable to expose the first label array while remaining removably attached to the top surface of the second label array, with both the first and second label arrays remaining removably attached to the substrate, to thereby facilitate removal of all labels in the first label array as a group with the peelable protective covering web remaining in place over the second label array.2. A multiple-ply label roll includes end-to-end labels. Each label is operable to be adhesively applied to a substrate and includes top and bottom label plies. The bottom label ply includes an outer removable border portion defined between interior and outer ply edges and removable from the top label ply in a removal direction. The interior ply edge includes spaced apart side edges that extend along the removal direction to define a pair of spaced apart side sections of the removable portion. The interior ply edge includes a generally transverse end edge interconnecting the side edges to define an end section of the removable portion, with the end section extending between the side sections and being removed generally after the side sections when the removable portion is removed in the removal direction.

AUTO-PEEL LABEL WITH PROJECTING EDGE

A multiple-ply label roll includes end-to-end labels. Each label is operable to be adhesively applied to a substrate and includes top and bottom label plies. The bottom label ply includes an outer removable border portion defined between interior and outer ply edges and removable from the top label ply in a removal direction. The interior ply edge includes spaced apart side edges that extend along the removal direction to define a pair of spaced apart side sections of the removable portion. The interior ply edge includes a generally transverse end edge interconnecting the side edges to define an end section of the removable portion, with the end section extending between the side sections and being removed generally after the side sections when the removable portion is removed in the removal direction.

Activatable adhesive label

The invention relates to an activatable adhesive label comprising a flexible web-shaped viewing material. At least one adhesive layer made of a moisture-activatable adhesive that is not adhesive in the dry state is applied onto one side of the flexible viewing material, wherein at least one central layer is provided which is designed to be adhesive and which is arranged between the viewing material and the adhesive layer.

TWO-PLY CHANNEL LINER, LABEL, AND ROLL

A two-ply liner-label and liner-label-roll are provided. A front side of a liner is coated with a release coating. The liner also includes a plurality of die cut tabs that at least partially align with a second die cut label in the label. The backside of the label is coated with an adhesive material and applied to the front side of the liner to form a liner-label roll. The tabs remain affixed to their corresponding individual labels when the labels are removed for placement on packaging; thereby, leaving holes in the liner as the liner is wound into a waste-liner roll within an auto applicator machine.

Method of producing a continuous label web

A pressure sensitive adhesive label system collectible in a continuous roll form. A transparent release liner removed from the stock roll is collected and subsequently reapplied to the upper surface of the web as an overlaminate layer to provide rigidity and protect printed indicia of the face material. The process of manufacturing the label system produces a quality label product in roll form without die cutting and results in the recycling of the release liner while eliminating release liner and matrix waste.

A wristband is provided. The wristband includes an elongated first body, an elongated second body, and an adhesive coupling system all of which are disposed in layers. The first body, which is the upper layer has an outer surface that is a printing surface. The second body, which is the lower layer is made from a comfortable fibrous sheet material. The adhesive pattern(s) reduces contact between a cutter blade of a printer and the adhesive on the one side of the label. Moreover, the adhesive patterns reduce buildup of adhesive on the cutter blade and reduce buildup at specific locations on the cutter blade. Adhesive-free laminates and method for making

An adhesive-free laminate and a process for producing such a laminate are described herein. The process includes printing an ink on the surface of a first film, exposure of the printed film to UV radiation such that the ink is at least partially cured, attaching the first film to a second film such that the ink is between the first and second film, and exposing the combination of the first film, the ink and the second film to a second UV radiation. It has been found that this process can produce a unique laminate, without the presence of an adhesive.

Rolled Label Web Releasably Attached To A Core

A roll of label web and method utilize a length of first label web having a plurality of longitudinally spaced adhesive-backed labels removably attached to a substrate wound around a tubular core in such a manner that a first and last label of the first label web are fully intact and usable. The leading and trailing ends of the first label web are cut between labels. The trailing end of the first label web is releasably attached to the core by double-sided releasable adhesive tabs that allow the trailing end of the first label web to pull free from the core for printing the last label. The leading end of the first label web is temporarily secured to the roll by adhesive tabs that are removable without damaging the first label of the first label web.

Tamper-Evident Label

A label is provided with a warning layer coating integrated or applied to a front side of the label. The warning layer coating is not activated by application of heat; rather, the warning layer coating activates upon a directional force (vertical or horizontal pulling) applied to the label after the label was initially adhered to a container, bag, box, and/or object. Upon activation, visible color or a printed warning indicia is visible on a front surface of the label, providing evidence that the label was removed after initial application or providing evidence that the label was attempted to be removed after initial application.

The adhesive is disposed between the two bodies, thereby coupling the bodies together. A portion at one end of the second body, a tab portion, has a release coating on the inner surface. In this configuration, the tab can be removed and the adhesive underneath can be attached to the other end of the wristband. A method of labeling a plurality of products , the method comprising:coating a pressure sensitive adhesive to a roll of face stock, the pressure-sensitive adhesive being a warm melt or a hot melt pressure-sensitive adhesive;singulating an individual label from the roll of face stock, the individual label singulated using at least a perforated line or a weakened line;applying the individual label to a product of the plurality of products;wherein (a) the coating, singulating and applying are conducted sequentially in a single continuous operation on the roll of face stock, and (b) a release layer and a liner are not used in the method.2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising printing an indicia on the face stock.3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the printing is conducted prior to the coating of the pressure sensitive adhesive at a same site as a site for the coating of the pressure sensitive adhesive.4. A novel method of making a laminated label construction is provided which involves (1) providing a temporary carrier (2) having a first relatively strong release surface (4) and a second relatively weak release surface (6) on opposite sides thereof, (2) forming a heat sealable lacquer (8) on said first release surface so as to form a label face film having a predetermined edge configuration, (3) forming indicia (10) on at least one selected portion of said label face film (in the case where printed labels are desired), and (4) forming a layer of a pressure-sensitive adhesive (12) in overlying bonded relationship with the indicia (10) (when present) and the protective lacquer (8). The pressure-sensitive adhesive (12) has lateral dimensions less than those of the label face film. The lacquer face film (8) comprises at least one heat-activatable ingredient that becomes tacky when heated and thereby provides heat-sealing properties. The carrier (2) may be an elongate web that is wound on itself to form a roll-type package, with the pressure-sensitive adhesive (12) facing outwardly and engaged by the weak release surface (6) of the carrier. The differential release prevents any blocking or offsetting of the label as roll is wound and unwound.
