A device for dispensing an individual plastic fastener from a supply of fastener stock includes a motor-driven head assembly adapted to receive the supply of fastener stock, sever an individual fastener from the supply and in turn eject the severed fastener. The head assembly includes a pair of needle block assemblies that retain corresponding hollow needles, each needle block assembly being shaped to define a feed channel that transitions a side rail for the fastener stock into axial alignment behind its corresponding needle. In addition, at least one needle block assembly includes a rearward shelf and a forward bowing plate. In use, the lowermost cross-links of the fastener stock fittingly align between the shelf and the bowing plate. In this manner, the lowermost cross-links are limited to distort uniformly upward within the single plane defined by the pair of feed channels, thereby optimizing feed reliability of the device.

An intermediate layer is positioned between the heat-reactive layer and the adhesive agent layer. The intermediate layer and the heat-reactive layer are formed thinner than the adhesive agent layer. The intermediate layer facilitates the formation of the openings in the heat-reactive layer with good heat energy efficiency and allows the intermediate layer or adhesive agent layer to be exposed through the openings.

The method includes a fastener to aid and enhance the door to door distribution and functionality of advertisements. The advertisements, such as flyers, door hangers, booklets, brochures and the like, are used by advertisers to communicate information, services, and special offers to the public. The advertisement can be a sheet of flexible or rigid material, including a first planar surface, and a hole to accommodate the fastener. In another embodiment, this advertisement could initially be blank with the intention of the advertiser printing their own information on the advertisement. The fastener incorporated in the method, is used to securely attach the advertisement to a door knob, or other protrusion, during door to door distribution. The fastener design has a circular portion that may be stretched to fit around a door knob securely attaching the advertisement to the door. The fastener also has a T shaped extension which is inserted into the hole in the advertisement, attaching the fastener and advertisement snugly to each other. The circular portion of the fastener may be stretched without easily breaking and without placing any stress on the T shaped extension portion of the fastener or the advertisement. Another embodiment included in this method incorporates the fastener attaching the advertisement to a variety of door knobs including a lever and a push button handle. A further embodiment enhances this method even further by utilizing adhesive to increase the advertisers return on investment. The consumer may use the adhesive, after the advertisement is brought inside, to keep the advertisement in view while displayed on any object or surface, including but not limited to plastic, hard surfaces, glass, wood, or metal; such as refrigerator, cabinet, or computer, inside the residence or business.

The adhesive pattern(s) reduces contact between a cutter blade of a printer and the adhesive on the one side of the label. Moreover, the adhesive patterns reduce buildup of adhesive on the cutter blade and reduce buildup at specific locations on the cutter blade. That is, the adhesive patterns more evenly distribute adhesive buildup across the cutter blade. Consequently, the cutter blade can be used for a longer period of time before the cutter blade needs to be cleaned of the adhesive.
