A multi-function wire stripping band tool generally for electricians that has a wire stripping system for a controlled cut and strip of the insulation from a wire. The tool includes an elongated body member having a longitudinal cavity and a transverse opening therein which communicates with the longitudinal cavity and one end of the body member. A stationary cutting blade is disposed in the inner end of the longitudinal cavity, and a movable cutting blade is movably mounted within an upper end of the longitudinal cavity. A spring is disposed between and engaged with a push button actuator so as to urge the movable blade to an open and retracted position. The wire stripping system is engaged with a handle region of the hand tool, and permits stripping in a direction that is perpendicular a longitudinal axis of the multi-function hand tool. This invention relates to a wire stripper device which may be hand held or placed on a bench vice to remove insulation from copper wires. The rectangular device has various sized holes within the body. Each of these holes has a perpendicular hole within it which houses and aligns a cutter. The cutter comes through the perpendicular hole far enough so that the sharp edge of the cutter cuts a slit in the insulation when the wire is being pulled through the various sized hole in the body. The cutters are held in place by adjustable screws which are housed in parallel holes above the various sized holes. Each cutter cuts a slit in the insulation of the wire so that the copper may be easily removed from the insulation once pulled through the hole. 1. One example may have a cable splitting device with a number of channels that include a razor edge in each of the channels and a top portion of the device providing a first half to each of the channels, and a bottom portion providing a second half to each of the channels. 1. An apparatus comprising:a top portion providing a first half of a plurality of channels; anda bottom portion providing a second half of the plurality of channels, andwherein the top portion and the bottom portion are connected via a rotating axis and are configured to rotate and lock into a closed position to form a plurality of channels each of which comprises at least one razor blade edge.2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the top portion comprises a first removable razor insert track comprising a majority length of the first half of the plurality of channels and at least one razor edge in each of the plurality of channels.3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the bottom portion comprises a second removable razor insert track comprising a majority length of the second half of the plurality of channels and at least one razor edge in each of the plurality of channels.4. The present invention relates to a finisher for a shielding layer at the end of a cable. In the present invention, the end of the shielding layer of a cable, which consists of a core wire, the shielding layer, and an insulation sheath, is tied using a fixing ring while being turned inside out. The present invention includes a core wire supporting rod on the outer circumferential surface of which a male screw thread is formed; a handle which is fixed to the rear end of the core wire supporting rod; a transfer tube on the outer circumferential surface of which a male screw is formed, is movable in the longitudinal direction of the core wire supporting rod while accommodating the core wire supporting rod, and into which the fixing ring is inserted; a detachment unit which is placed at the line end of the transfer tube and separates the shielding layer from the insulation layer; a pressurizing disk which is engaged to the outer circumferential surface of the core wire supporting rod through screw joining and moves the transfer tube toward the cable using pressure; and a pusher which is engaged to the transfer tube through screw joining, moves the fixing ring toward the cable, and makes the fixing ring turn the shielding layer inside out. The finisher facilitates easy work by turning the shielding layer inside out and does not require efforts since the pusher for moving the fixing ring uses screw joining. Therefore, even during the work for multiple cables, stable and reliable finishing work is available.

The slitting of the sheath to bare the cores of a telecommunication type cable can be carried out by using a hooked but pointed knife. This procedure can be dangerous and require a flat support surface. This cylindrical tool slides over the cable and can be sleeved to fit varying cable sizes. Levers, which are 'L' shaped are hinged at the lower end onto the cylinder, have a knife edge at the other end. These project into the cylinder through slots. The tool is drawn along the cable with pressure on the levers thus slitting the sheath. The penetration depth is controlled by an adjustable collar.

A method and an apparatus for stripping the end portion of a coated optical fibre (1) or coated optical fibre tape. According to the method, the coating of the coated optical fibre is nicked at a first distance (d1) from the end thereof by placing the coated optical fibre between two cutting tools (5) arranged opposite one another, and moving the cutting tools towards one another until the spacing therebetween is approximately the same as the diameter of the optical fibre, and the two cutting tools are simultaneously moved along the fibre towards the end thereof. The above steps are repeated such that the coating of the coated optical fibre (1) is nicked at a second distance (d2) from the end thereof, said second distance being greater than the first distance. The apparatus comprises a shifting device (20, 21, 22, 23) for shifting the starting position of the coated optical fibre nicking means (18a, 18b) towards the end of said optical fibre.
