The rank-8 codeword for eight-antenna is generated by multiplying an inverse matrix of a rotation matrix for eight-antenna with an eight-dimensional matrix formed by rank-4 codewords for four-antenna; or generated by extending rank-4 codewords for eight-antenna, where the rank-4 codeword for eight-antenna is generated according to codewords for four-antenna. Aspects of the present invention provide additional MAC functionality to support the PHY features of a wireless communication system framework. The additional MAC functionality aids in enabling feedback from wireless terminals to base stations. In some aspects of the invention the feedback is provided on an allocated feedback channel. In other aspects of the invention the feedback is provided by MAC protocol data units (PDU) in a header, mini-header, or subheader. The feedback may be transmitted from the wireless terminal to the base station autonomously by the wireless terminal or in response to an indication from the base station that feedback is requested. Aspects of the invention also provide for allocating feedback resources to form a dedicated feedback channel. One or more of these enhancements is included in a given implementation. Enhanced channel state information (CSI) feedback is disclosed for full dimensional multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) operations. In one aspect, a single CSI process is defined that is configured with an azimuth and elevation CSI-reference signal (RS) ports. A user equipment (UE) will send a precoding matrix indictor (PMI) report including a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) for the azimuth ports and a PMI for the elevation ports. A method for transmitting channel status information (CSI) via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system , the method comprising:transmitting a first PUCCH report including a rank indicator (RI); andtransmitting a second PUCCH report including a channel quality indicator (CQI), a first precoding matrix indicator (PMI) and a second PMI,wherein when the RI corresponds to one of Rank-1 to Rank-4, a sub set of a codebook corresponding to the RI is available for selecting the first PMI and the second PMI, and a sum of the first PMI and the second PMI is comprised of 4 bits, andwherein when the RI corresponds to one of Rank-5 to Rank-7, a full set of a codebook corresponding to the RI is available for selecting the first PMI and the second PMI, and a sum of the first PMI and the second PMI is comprised of 2 bits.2. The method according to claim 1 , wherein a combination of the first PMI and the second PMI indicates a single precoding matrix.3. A wireless device may support a plurality of channel state information (CSI) processes. The wireless device may send an indication of a number of supported CSI processes to a first base station. The first base station may send to the wireless device a handover command, instructing the wireless device to handover to a second base station. The handover command may comprise configuration parameters for CSI processes associated with the second base station. The configuration parameters may be based on the number of CSI processes supported by the wireless device. 1. A method comprising:transmitting, by a first base station to a second base station and based on a handover decision for a wireless device, at least one first message comprising one or more parameters indicating that the wireless device supports configuration of a first quantity of channel state information (CSI) reports for a plurality of resource blocks;receiving, by the first base station and from the second base station, at least one second message comprising second configuration parameters for a second quantity of CSI reference signals, wherein the second quantity is less than or equal to the first quantity; andtransmitting, by the first base station and to the wireless device, a third message comprising the second configuration parameters.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the first quantity of CSI reports are associated with one or more CSI processes.3. Methods and apparatus for orthogonal stream spatial multiplexing. In one embodiment, a method includes splitting and modulating a data stream into n MIMO RF spatial streams and coupling them to corresponding switchable polarization antenna elements controlled via orthogonal binary codes for transmission. Each transmitted stream manifests as time-varying-polarization-orthogonal to the other n−1 spatial streams. The method includes reception of the streams at their destination using corresponding antenna elements controlled by the same set of orthogonal codes. Thus, each of the n transmitted spatial streams is polarization-match-filtered, unambiguously separated and individually recovered from all the others upon reception for subsequent demodulation and MIMO spatial recombination into the original data stream.
