The first network node determines session information of the received packet and determines whether a new tunnel needs to be selected for transmitting the received packet. When a new tunnel needs to be selected, a hash result is determined. The hash result is substantially based on the session information and the number of available tunnels. A first tunnel is determined for transmitting the received packet according to the hash result. The session information and tunnel ID of the first tunnel is then stored in a first database. A data distribution server and terminals measure a communication status with other devices. Based on measurement results of the communication status, the data distribution server categorizes the terminals as “trunk” or “branch”, notifies the terminals of categorization results, notifies the terminals of selection of a relay path through which data can be distributed to all relay terminals by relaying the data between “trunks”, and instructs a “trunk” terminal to relay the data through the relay path. A network node or corresponding method of performing link aggregation reduces a number of Content Addressable Memory (CAM) entries required to make a forwarding decision for a given ingress flow, reducing cost, size, and power consumption of the CAM and accompanying static RAM. In one embodiment, an ingress flow is mapped to an egress flow identifier. Subsequently, the egress flow identifier is mapped to a member of an aggregated group associated with an egress interface based on information available in a given ingress flow. Finally, the given ingress flow is forwarded to the member of the aggregated group associated with the egress interface. A hashing technique or two lookups may be used alone or in combination in mapping the ingress flow to the egress flow identifier to reduce CAM memory usage.

An embodiment operates by receiving a generated message. The type of the generated message is determined, where the type is an air traffic control message or a non-air traffic control message. Based on the type of message, communication links are selected, where the communication links include parallel transmission links or a serial link. The method continues by copying the generated message and transmitting the copied message using the selected communication links. The method waits to receive an acknowledgement indicating receipt of the transmitted message. Upon identifying an acknowledgement, any of the copied messages not yet retransmitted are deleted.

A stream at a source device may be transmitted over multiple channels. At the input of the channels that packets from the stream may be grouped into chunks. Informational packets may be appended to the chunks. The informational packets may include sequencing information for the chunks and packet-to-packet timing information. The chunks may then be distributed over the multiple channels. After transmission over the channels, the informational packets may be extracted from the chunks. Reconstruction circuitry, at the destination device, may determine the sequence of the chunks at the source device based on the sequencing information. The reconstruction circuitry may also determine relative timings of the packets within the single stream based on the packet-to-packet timing information. The packets may be released from buffers in accord with the determined packet-to-packet timing information and the sequencing information to recreate the relative timings within the single stream at the destination device. 1.
