A system and method are disclosed for authenticating and authorizing access to and accounting for consumption of bandwidth for IPv6 connectivity to the Internet over Wireless Access Vehicular Environment (WAVE) service channels by client devices using an Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) server. The AAA server authenticates and authorizes client devices to access WAVE service channels, and accounts for bandwidth consumption by the client devices using WAVE service channels to access the Internet. The AAA server enables an RSU infrastructure operator to quantify wireless bandwidth consumption by in-vehicle devices using the WAVE Service Channels, on a per-device basis. 1. Aspects of the present disclosure include systems and methods for automatically scanning a network for network devices, retrieving and storing device information associated with any identified network devices, and updating records of a DNS based on the retrieved device information. The updated records of the DNS may include the IP address of a given network device and a device name that is automatically generated from the retrieved device information using a set of naming rules applied to the device information. Accordingly, subsequent queries including the device names may be submitted to the DNS to retrieve the corresponding IP addresses. The resulting device names generated by applying the naming rules may be based on, among other things, logical or physical properties of the network devices. 1. A recursive DNS nameserver system and related domain name resolution techniques are disclosed. The DNS nameservers utilize a local cache having previously retrieved domain name resolution to avoid recursive resolution processes and the attendant DNS requests. If a matching record is found with a valid (not expired) TTL field, the nameserver returns the cached domain name information to the client. If the TTL for the record in the cache has expired and the nameserver is unable to resolve the domain name information using DNS requests to authoritative servers, the recursive DNS nameserver returns to the cache and accesses the resource record having an expired TTL. The nameserver generates a DNS response to the client device that includes the domain name information from the cached resource record. In various embodiments, subscriber information is utilized to resolve the requested domain name information in accordance with user-defined preferences. 1. A method , comprising the steps of:receiving, by a server communicatively coupled to a network from a computing device in electronic communication with the server via the network, as input in a domain name search query, one or more search tokens that form a second level domain of a target domain name;receiving, by the server, a first plurality of candidate domain names each identified as relevant to one or more of the one or more search tokens;receiving, by the server, a second plurality of candidate domain names each identified as relevant to one or more of the one or more search tokens, the second plurality of candidate domain names being disparate from the first plurality of candidate domain names, wherein a ranking function is unusable to rank one or both of the first plurality of domain names and the second plurality of domain names;normalizing, by the server, the first plurality of candidate domain names and the second plurality of candidate domain names to generate a plurality of normalized candidate domain names that can be ranked against each other using the ranking function;applying, by the server, the ranking function to the plurality of normalized candidate domain names to create a ranked list of domain names; andsending the ranked list of domain names to the computing device. ...

Each sample domain belongs to a family of domains. The method also includes identifying, for each leaf, a regular expression for each family with at least one domain in the leaf. The method also includes determining, for each leaf, at least one lobe with a set of domains in the leaf that matches the regular expression for a first family with at least one domain in the leaf, and that does not match the regular expression for the other families with at least one domain in the leaf.
