A mobile terminal mounted with a camera receives a call(ST11). The mobile terminal decides on a distance between the mobile terminal and a user(ST12-ST14). The terminal compares the distance with a preset reference distance(ST15). If the distance is nearer than the reference distance, the terminal more reduces a call receiving sound than normal strength or generates vibration(ST16). In the second steps 'ST12-ST14', the distance between the terminal and the user is decided on from distance data of a subject stored by being mapped with a position of a focus lens after an auto-focusing process is performed by driving the camera.

In response to the inputted information, the alerting indicator volume is increased. The invention may be used in radiotelephones employing non-audio alerting indicator devices for indicating an incoming call, such as vibrating devices.
