The present invention relates to a method to copy a defect in a welded zone. According to the present invention, a defect causing material having a higher melting point than a base metal is attached to a base metal where the base metal is a carbon steel; and the defect causing material is one of a graphite, a ceramic, and a tungsten. In case the defect causing material does not have weldability, a metal patch with weldability is attached to the defect causing material, and then the metal patch attached to the base metal by welding. In case of arranging the defect causing material into the base metal, a groove is formed in the base metal and the defect causing material is inserted into the groove and is then welded.
