The firewood boiler of the present invention has a transverse two-pass structure in which a lower firewood combustion chamber and an upper heat exchanger are linked in a vertical association. In the heat exchanger, the thermal efficiency is improved by means of heat-exchange fins formed on either the inner circumferential surface or the outer circumferential surface thereof and by a zig-zag plate formed on the inside thereof.
