Originating a Voice Call from a Selected Number Using a Temporary Routing Number

When authorized, a user of a computing device, such as a smart phone, may select an originating phone number to initiate a voice call that is different from the telephone number that is assigned to the computing device. The telephone number that is selected as the originating number may be a number that is assigned to another computing device and/or a different user. In response to receiving a request to place an outgoing call using the selected destination number, the network returns a temporary routing number to the computing device. The computing device places a call to the temporary routing number. After receiving the call at the temporary routing number, the network places the outgoing call using the selected originating number. The outgoing call appears to a called party to originate from the selected originating number instead of from the phone number assigned to the computing device. 1. A user can be provided with a pool of available temporary disposable numbers that have a limited shelf life. The user can select one of the available temporary disposable numbers while submitting a permanent phone number associated with a communications device (e.g., mobile phone, home phone, business phone, etc.). Prior to activating the selected temporary disposable number, the temporary disposable number is linked to the permanent phone number. After activation, when an incoming call to the temporary disposable number is received, the permanent phone number is identified to be associated with the temporary disposable number being called. A user can be provided with a pool of available temporary disposable numbers that have a limited shelf life. The user can select one of the available temporary disposable numbers while submitting a permanent phone number associated with a communications device (e.g., mobile phone, home phone, business phone, etc.). Prior to activating the selected temporary disposable number, the temporary disposable number is linked to the permanent phone number. After activation, when an incoming call to the temporary disposable number is received, the permanent phone number is identified to be associated with the temporary disposable number being called. The call request is routed to a target device of the user via a data channel of the host enterprise. The target device provides the user with multiple action or response options via the call request. An agent queuing system implemented without relying on a private branch exchange. The queuing system can be cloud-based and routes calls to agents, for example, through a first-in/first-out (FIFO) queue. Clients are assigned a unique number that identify one or more queues. When a call is received, a database maintains the unique number that was called and the associated company information is retrieved, along with any queues allocated for their company. A call is placed to the next available agent from the selected queue. A recording is played to the agent identifying the queue the call is arriving from and the agent is prompted to accept the call. If the call is accepted, the agent is taken out of the available agent pool for the duration of the call. The call can be routed without exposing the phone numbers of the caller or agent involved in the call.

A method of obtaining and automatically providing secure authentication information includes registering a client device over a data line, storing information and a changeable value for authentication in subsequent telephone-only transactions. In the subsequent transactions, a telephone call placed from the client device to an interactive voice response server is intercepted and modified to include dialing of a delay and at least a passcode, the passcode being based on the unique information and the changeable value, where the changeable value is updated for every call session. The interactive voice response server forwards the passcode and a client device identifier to an authentication function, which compares the received passcode to plural passcodes generated based on information and iterations of a value stored in correspondence with the client device identifier. Authentication is confirmed when a generated passcode matches the passcode from the client device. 1. AUTHENTICATION USING DTMF TONES

A method of obtaining and automatically providing secure authentication information includes registering a client device over a data line, storing information and a changeable value for authentication in subsequent telephone-only transactions. In the subsequent transactions, a telephone call placed from the client device to an interactive voice response server is intercepted and modified to include dialing of a delay and at least a passcode, the passcode being based on the unique information and the changeable value, where the changeable value is updated for every call session. The interactive voice response server forwards the passcode and a client device identifier to an authentication function, which compares the received passcode to plural passcodes generated based on information and iterations of a value stored in correspondence with the client device identifier. Authentication is confirmed when a generated passcode matches the passcode from the client device. 1. Methods and devices for establishing a communication between a first and a second terminal are described. The disclosed technology can be implemented in or by a server or a terminal in communication with the server. The first terminal can to the server, using a first calling identity, a request including connection information and an identifier of the first terminal. Using the identifier, the server can obtain from a database a pair of calling identities including one certified and one non-certified, the pair comprising the first calling identity and a second calling identity. The server can determine, from one of the calling identities and from the connection information, a connectivity mode of the terminal, and determine a routable number on which the terminal can send a communication to the server. The server can route the communication towards the second terminal by presenting a calling identity of the pair and sending the routable number to the first terminal.
