An existing metadata set that is specific to a color volume transformation model is transformed to a metadata set that is specific to a distinctly different color volume transformation model. For example, source content metadata for a first color volume transformation model is received. This source metadata determines a specific color volume transformation, such as a sigmoidal tone map curve. The specific color volume transformation is mapped to a color volume transformation of a second color volume transformation model, e.g., a Bézier tone map curve. Mapping can be a best fit curve, or a reasonable approximation. Mapping results in metadata values used for the second color volume transformation model (e.g., one or more Bézier curve knee points and anchors). Thus, devices configured for the second color volume transformation model can reasonably render source content according to received source content metadata of the first color volume transformation model.

On-Demand Captioning and Translation

Novel tools and techniques are provided for a live and/or on-demand captioning service. A system may include a caption management server, and a source captioning device. The source captioning device may generate a request to initiate captioning service, transmit the request to the caption management server, transmit the audio content to a captioning service provider as determined by the caption management server, and receive, via the caption management server, caption data from the captioning service provider. The caption management server may determine a type of captioning service requested, and determine the captioning service provider for the source captioning device to transmit the audio content based, at least in part, on the type of captioning service requested.

The transcoded frame is converted into a format comparable to a reference frame representing the frame that is corrected transcoded to the assigned orientation. Then, the computing device compares the converted frame with the reference frame to determine that the frame is transcoded correctly to the assigned orientation. 본 발명은 유비쿼터스(ubiquitous) 컴퓨팅 환경에서 QoS (Quality of Service)를 지원하기 위한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠의 형식 변환 (modality conversion)에 관한 것이다. 최근에 HDTV, PDA, 핸드폰, MP3 플레이어 등 다양한 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 소비하는 단말기가 등장하고 있고 비디오, 오디오, 그래픽 등의 다양한 컨텐츠 형식이 서비스되고 있다. 이런 다양한 컨텐츠와 다양한 디바이스를 가진 멀티미디어 소비환경에서는 기존의 단일 컨텐츠 형식 내에서 만의 컨텐츠 스케일링(content scaling) 방법만으로 서비스질(QoS)을 조절을 할 수 없다. 본 발명은 멀티미디어 소비 환경 하에서 QoS 를 위하여 형식 변환을 하는 것을 포함한다. 형식 변환은 다양한 멀티미디어 소비 환경 하에서 이종 컨텐츠 형식변환 방법을 제공함으로써 컨텐츠의 전달 및 소비 등의 서비스 품질을 유지할 수 있게 한다. QoS 관점에서 보면 형식 변환에서 대부분의 중요한 현안(懸案)은 “어떤 자원(資源) 특성 하에서 즉 제약조건 하에서 현재의 형식이 다른 형식으로 변환되어야 하는가?” 이다. 즉 형식 사이의 변환 경계를 찾는 방법이 QoS 를 위한 형식 변환에있어서의 핵심이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 발명은 이와 같은 형식 사이의 변환 경계를 찾는 방법을 제공한다.
