An application server provides a portal application for provisioning one or more controlled communication systems, such as a virtual PBX's hosted on a server in a network environment through a portal application. The virtual PBXs are provisioned in response to data input in a particular PBX language. The portal application includes a viewer-and-controller module for presenting a graphical user interface (GUI) to a client containing fields for accepting user input pertaining to PBX provisioning requirements. An API interface module for communicating with the virtual PBXs includes a wrapper module which translates between normalized data for use by the viewer-and-controller module and data in the particular PBX language for any virtual PBX, and a provisioning module for communicating with the wrapper module. The viewer- and controller-module further comprises a controller module for generating the GUI, and a transaction module responsive to user input to query the API interface module to obtain data required to implement user provisioning requests in the viewer-and-controller module to create a new or modified user profile. The transaction module further includes a command module for sending commands as normalized data to the provisioning module to implement the new or modified user profile in the one or more virtual PBX's via the wrapper module.

The method of claim 1 , further comprising:transmitting, by the private branch exchange, a first call invite message to the enterprise gateway server;transmitting, by the private branch exchange, a second call invite message to a phone;forwarding, by the enterprise gateway server, the first call invite message to a carrier gateway server; andestablishing a secure tunnel between the enterprise gateway server and the carrier gateway server.3. If the subscriber modems(204) are connected with the local devices, the subscriber modems(204) modulate digital signals transmitted to the local devices from the high speed data network into the analog signals, and demodulate the analog signal transmitted to the high speed data network from the local lines into the digital signals. A subscriber line switch(206) selectively connects the subscriber line connectors(202) with the subscriber line modems(204). If the moving signals are sensed in the subscriber line connectors(202), a line connection controller(208) activates one of standby subscriber modems. The line connection controller(208) is connected with the subscriber line connectors(202) through the subscriber line switch(206).

The invention provides a method and system for signaling asynchronous supplementary services in a telephony network. The method comprises initiating a call between a sender and a recipient on a telephony network including generating a telephony request and disconnecting the call prior to completion of a connection. Concomitantly, an asynchronous communication is initiated between the sender and the recipient using information in the telephony request. The call may be disconnected prior to allocation of a traffic channel or prior to generating a ring at a device of the recipient. In one embodiment the call is disconnected after receipt of the telephony request by an originating mobile switching center but before continuing set-up of the call. Calls aborted in this way can be used to initiate messaging or other services without utilising voice circuits in a network.

Thereafter, the call is routed from the originating subscriber through MGW2 in the originating network directly to MGW1 in the visited network. An MSC Server in the visited network then routes the call to the mobile terminating subscriber.
