During storage and transport, the enclosure may be kept in a sealed state, which prevents entry of humidity. During operation in a wet environment (e.g., in a water meter attached to a pipe) water leaks into the enclosure very slowly, even when sealed. Accordingly, a tube is opened, allowing water molecules to be exhausted from the enclosure and absorbed by a desiccant within the water meter. In an example, a tube passes from an interior of the enclosure to an exterior of the enclosure. An end cap on the tube prevents humid air from entering the enclosure during storage and transport of the ultrasonic transducer. During operation in a humid environment, removal of the end cap allows air exchange to ventilate the enclosure and allows a desiccant outside the enclosure to absorb humidity exhausted from the enclosure.

An apparatus for mounting a loudspeaker unit to a structure is disclosed. A primary mounting bracket is defined by an arcuate center section and a pair of opposed arms extending therefrom. There is at least one open groove and at least one substantially coextensive track spanning the arcuate center section. Each of the arms include a circular planar bearing structure rotatably engageable to a corresponding one of bracket coupling platforms on an enclosure of the loudspeaker unit. A tab defining at least one mounting hardware hole in axial alignment with open groove substantially throughout its length is in a guided sliding engagement with the track. The enclosure of the loudspeaker unit is rotatable about a first axis extending between the arms of the primary mounting bracket and about a second axis defined by a radial center of an arc corresponding to a travel path of the tab along the track.

Improved approaches for providing a speaker within a housing of a portable electronic device are disclosed. The housing of the portable electronic device can be compact, such as a low profile housing. In one embodiment, an acoustic chamber for a speaker can be formed internal to a housing for a portable electronic device using non-dedicated space. In another embodiment, irregular surfaces can be sealed so that an acoustic chamber for a speaker can be formed internal to a housing for a portable electronic device.

A method and apparatus for providing long playback of short recordings are disclosed. An example method includes recording audio for a time period that is less than a maximum recording time, receiving an indication that the audio is to be played back, playing the audio back for a duration corresponding to the time period, determining the audio is to be repeated, and responsive to determining that the audio is to be repeated, at the end of the time period duration, playing the audio back multiple times for a preset time or preset number of repetitions. 1. An apparatus for long playback of short recordings comprising:control circuits;a speaker;a microphone;a battery;a play/stop button;a record button; anda memory;wherein the apparatus is configured to record a sound for a time period using the microphone, store the sound in the memory, and play back the sound using the speaker, wherein the sound is played back repeatedly in a loop with each iteration of the loop having a duration of the time period.2. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the sound is played back repeatedly until the expiration of a preset period of time.3. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the sound is played back repeatedly for a preset number of repetitions.4. The apparatus of claim 1 , wherein the apparatus is installed in one of a plush toy claim 1 , a plastic toy claim 1 , a mattress claim 1 , a book claim 1 , a mobile claim 1 , and a bracelet.5. An electronic device includes an upper cover, a bottom cover, and at least one loudspeaker. The upper cover includes a top wall and a first sidewall perpendicular to the top wall, and the first sidewall defines a number of first sound holes. The bottom cover includes at least one chamber opening toward the top wall. The chamber includes a second sidewall and a third sidewall opposite to the second sidewall. The second sidewall defines a number of second sound holes aligned with the respectively first sound holes. The loudspeaker is received in the chamber and includes a front portion facing the second sidewall and an opposite rear portion. The front portion and the second sidewall cooperatively form a front chamber in communication with the first and the second sound holes, and the rear portion and the third sidewall cooperatively form a back chamber.
