[Class 60] [See also Group XXXV] A magnetic work-holder comprises permanent magnets 1 each having three poles, each pole being covered by a separate polepiece 2 of magnetic material, and the polepieces being cast into a face-plate 3 of non-magnetic material, which supports the work and forms the cover of a casing 4. The magnets are connected by a link 5 and are slidable within the casing by means of a link 6 connected to an eccentric pin 7 on a shaft 8 rotatable by a handle ; when the magnets are moved to the right, the polepieces bridge the gaps between adjacent poles, and divert most of the magnetic flux from the work, which may then be removed from the faceplate.
