A method and apparatus for securely fastening a pipe collar or a bracket to a riser pipe of a boiling water reactor (BWR) jet pump assembly. A pipe plug assembly includes an angled pipe plug that acts as a wedge to expand a bushing assembly as the pipe plug is drawn into the overall pipe plug assembly. Expansion of the bushing assembly allows a tight tolerance to exist between an outer diameter of the pipe plug and an inner diameter of the collar/bracket and riser pipe. Expansion of the bushing assembly allows a straight hole to be match drilled into the collar/bracket and riser pipe, thereby avoiding a more complicated tapered hole to be drilled into the collar/bracket and riser pipe. An ensuing tight fit between the pipe plug assembly, the collar/bracket and the riser pipe mitigates vibration of components and minimizes leakage to acceptable levels for use in the flooded environment of the annulus region where the jet pump assembly exists in the BWR.

An emergency shutdown test, wherein the emergency shutdown test system includes an emergency shutdown device controller and sensors to provide data to the controller. The emergency shutdown device controller has a processor, a memory coupled to the processor and an auxiliary input couple to the processor, wherein an emergency shutdown test is stored in the memory, and the auxiliary input is adapted to receive a binary signal and sensor data. A first routine is stored in the memory and is adapted to be executed on the processor to cause the emergency shutdown test to be performed in response to the receipt of the binary signal at the auxiliary input. The memory is also adapted to store a second routine, wherein the second routine is adapted to be executed on the processor to cause sensor data to be recorded in the memory during the emergency shutdown test. The processor compares a plurality of predetermined limits to the received sensor data to determine if the valve is fully operational or if possible problems exist.

A method and apparatus for securely fastening a pipe collar or a bracket to a riser pipe (51) of a boiling water reactor (BWR) jet pump assembly (50). A pipe plug assembly (1) includes an angled pipe plug (14) that acts as a wedge to expand a bushing assembly (16) as the pipe plug (14) is drawn into the overall pipe plug assembly (1). Expansion of the bushing assembly (16) allows a tight tolerance to exist between an outer diameter of the pipe plug (14) and an inner diameter of the collar / bracket and riser pipe (51). Expansion of the bushing assembly (16) allows a straight hole to be match drilled into the collar / bracket and riser pipe (51), thereby avoiding a more complicated tapered hole to be drilled into the collar / bracket and riser pipe (51). An ensuing tight fit between the pipe plug assembly (1), the collar / bracket and the riser pipe (51) mitigates vibration of components and minimizes leakage to acceptable levels for use in the flooded environment of the annulus region where the jet pump assembly (50) exists in the BWR.

An oilwell leak containment apparatus for a completed oilwell includes a body segmented into two or more segments. Each of segment has a non-mating edge and a mating edge. The non-mating edge has an upstanding containment wall. When the segments are coupled together to form the body the upstanding containment wall extends around a peripheral edge of the body and defines a liquid containment cavity. The mating edge mates with an other segments. Each mating edge has an arcuate portion. When the segments are coupled together to complete the body the arcuate portions form a circular collar. The segments are connected together with quick release couplers. It is preferred that the quick release couplers be positioned within the liquid retaining cavity for ease of access.

A device is disclosed which acts to contain the contaminated effluent of an operation such as a hydro-blasting operation. The device has flexible bag for containing the effluent. The bag has an opening interfacing with a vessel being fluid blasted, into which opening the blasting effluent is received. A drain port is positioned on the containment bag to gravity empty the effluent from the interior of the bag, and a vent appropriately located on the containment bag to relieve pressure in the interior space during use and emptying. A flange strap disposed secures the bag opening to the vessel, and a support means is arranged to suspend the containment bag in proper relationship with the vessel. An expansion mechanism can be used to hold the containment bag in an expanded condition to facilitate use of the bag to properly contain the effluent.

A stabilization pad, connected to a flange on a nosepiece of each plugging head, prevents deformation of the sealing elements. A device is disclosed which acts to contain the contaminated effluent of an operation such as a hydro-blasting operation. The device has flexible bag for containing the effluent. The bag has an opening interfacing with a vessel being fluid blasted, into which opening the blasting effluent is received. A drain port is positioned on the containment bag to gravity empty the effluent from the interior of the bag, and a vent appropriately located on the containment bag to relieve pressure in the interior space during use and emptying. A flange strap disposed secures the bag opening to the vessel, and a support means is arranged to suspend the containment bag in proper relationship with the vessel. An expansion mechanism can be used to hold the containment bag in an expanded condition to facilitate use of the bag to properly contain the effluent.

A first routine is stored in the memory and is adapted to be executed on the processor to cause the emergency shutdown test to be performed in response to the receipt of the binary signal at the auxiliary input. The memory is also adapted to store a second routine, wherein the second routine is adapted to be executed on the processor to cause sensor data to be recorded in the memory during the emergency shutdown test. The processor compares a plurality of predetermined limits to the received sensor data to determine if the valve is fully operational or if possible problems exist.

In the coupling cylinder unit (32C) in the valve case (32), there is provided a pulling and fixing means for pulling the valve case (32) to the coupling flange, thereby fixing the valve case (32) to the coupling flange. In the coupling cylinder unit (32C) in the valve case (32), there is formed an operation recessed part (32J) for operating a fastener from the backside of the coupling flange, the purpose of the aforementioned fastener being so that the fluid device joined through a flow path in the valve case (32) is fixed and coupled to the coupling flange.
