Area of cross section of intermediate passage is equal to area of flow of fluid medium between seat and valve member at its second position which is necessary to maintain the preset rate of flow. Area of flow of fluid medium in circular clearance between valve member and inner surface of outlet passage is equal to double area of flow between this valve member and seat which is necessary to obtain preset rate of flow. According to second version of invention, precombustion chamber of internal combustion engine includes check valve is described above. Check valve is used for control of delivery of gaseous fuel to precombustion chamber. A valve cage device is adapted for use with a subsurface pump or the like. The valve cage includes a housing and an insert. The insert includes a cradle, a plurality of angled ribs, and a base. In one embodiment, the insert may also include an extended nose region. A ball and seat may be positioned in the valve cage. During pumping operations, the cradle retains the ball when the ball is unseated, thereby allowing fluid to pass freely through channels in the insert and around the ball. This eliminates violent action of the ball, thereby obviating a need for a hard liner to be included in the valve cage. A one way check valve in which the valve cage is formed from a single piece of elastic material and a relatively rigid ball valve is installed in the valve cage by distorting the cage and forcing the ball through the inlet opening into the cage. The outlet of the valve is divided into a series of outlet passages by intersecting, tapered web members which positively prevent the loss of the ball valve from the interior of the valve cage and at the same time maintain the ball valve centrally of the valve body for rapid seating of the ball under reverse flow conditions.

A miniaturised device for producing high pressure in a fluid imposes stringent requirements on the manufacturing process. The valve member (58) is arranged at one end of the hollow piston (57) inside or immediately in front of the end of the hollow piston (57). The device is used in a mechanically operated high pressure atomiser. This consists of a two-part housing which comprises a pump housing (52) with nozzle (54), a blocking mechanism (62), a spring housing (67) with spring (68), a non-pressurised storage container (71) for the fluid (72) and a mechanical counter integrated in the spring housing (67). The valve (58) operates without any auxiliary force, closes very rapidly and is sealed tight against high pressure. The atomiser is safe and simple to operate and environmentally friendly. The fluid is metered extremely accurately. The atomiser is used, for example, to produce an inhalable aerosol of a liquid medicament without the use of a propellant gas, at 320 bar, for example.

The washer 10 may comprise radial arms 12 extending from a central disc 11 and extended circumferentially at 13a, 13b. The washer is dished as shown in Fig. 2, and the limb 13a, 13b is initially curved to a greater radius than that of the member in which the washer is to be inserted, for example, a piston 18 having a valve 16 that is seated by a light spring 15 that abuts the washer 10 retained in a counterbore 19 against a shoulder 20. A flow-responsive diverting valve is particularly useful with pressure washers of the type having a water pump coupled to an internal combustion engine equipped with a pull-rope starter. The valve provides an "easy-start" feature and has a valving chamber and a fluid inlet and two fluid outlets. A magnet is fixed on the valve body and when fluid flows into the inlet at the low flow rate occurring when operating the starter, a valving device, e.g., a check ball, is restrained by the magnet. When fluid flows into the inlet at a higher flow rate (as when the engine is running and the pump is delivering water at a substantial rate), the device closes the first outlet and diverts water to the second outlet. A method for operating a pressure washer includes magnetically restraining the valving device away from the first outlet while operating the starter and then running the engine, thereby urging the device to close the first outlet.
