The invention relates to a tool which has more than one function. As a first function, the tool is capable of activating a fastening element, either by direct physical contact or by remote activation. As a second function, the tool is capable of detecting an attribute of the fastening element. The attribute can include position or location of the fastening element, status of the fastening element, identity of the fastening element, environmental factors affecting the fastening element, size of the fastening element, sequence in which the fastening element must be activated, history of the fastening element, authorization requirements in relation to the fastening element, or activation requirements of the fastening element.

The connection apparatus may include a soil reinforcing element configured to be coupled to a facing anchor having a pair of longitudinally extending portions connected by a transverse member, wherein the soil reinforcing element may be inserted into an opening created by the pair of longitudinally extending portions, seated near or adjacent to the transverse member, and be secured therein by means of a clasp. The connection apparatus allows the soil reinforcing element to swivel in at least one horizontal plane, thus being capable of avoiding obstructions in the MSE mass.

A mounting assembly that secures a tooling plate to a base plate. The base plate has a mounting aperture which receives a pin that extends from the tooling plate. The pin has a locking aperture located essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the pin. Located within the mounting aperture is an armature which has a lip that extends into the locking aperture when the tooling plate is placed onto the base plate and the pin is inserted into the mounting aperture. The interlocking armature and pin secure the tooling plate to the base plate. The pin and armature lip have cooperating chamfered cam surfaces that move the lip into the locking aperture when the pin is inserted into the mounting aperture. The assembly includes a spring biased button that can be depressed to move the armature out of the pin so that the tooling plate can be released from the base plate.

The instant invention provides a manually operable locking mechanism for a rotary power tool. The locking mechanism comprises a housing for the rotary power tool, the housing having an opening therein, a spindle rotatably mounted within the housing, the spindle having a radially extending aperture in axial alignment with the housing opening, a loop spring disposed adjacent the housing, the loop spring having a hole in alignment with the opening in the housing, and a lock pin. The lock pin includes an outer section slidingly engaging the opening in the housing, a manually engageable button at its outer end extending radially outwardly from the housing, and a shaft at its inner end extending radially inwardly of the housing and through the hole of the loop spring. As the boat is winched in to the rear of the trailer an alignment of the prow with the center rear of the trailer is effected. The pulley device is released from its seating and rides free on the line as the boat is fully winched on to the trailer. This enables the dry loading of a boat from rough water as a one-man operation.

Locking device for auger latches

Apparatus for connecting the locking auger sections end to end in a string of auger sections driven by an auger mining machine. Auger sections are connected end to end by inserting a shank portion of one section into a socket portion of the adjacent section and locking them by a latch bolt. The latch bolt is carried in a housing on the socket portion of one section and extends into a hole in the shank portion of the other section. The latch bolt carries a transverse locking pin and is rotatable in the housing to position the locking pin in one of two slots in the housing. One slot is of longer length axially of the bolt to permit the latch bolt to be withdrawn from the hole in the shank portion, while the other slot prevents the withdrawal of the latch bolt. The auger sections remain locked together until the latch bolt is intentionally turned to a position where the pin is in the longer slot, and the bolt is then intentionally drawn out of the shank hole.

A locking device having portions engageable with a movable member for retaining same in a selected position relative to a stationary support member. The locking device includes a body member mounted on the stationary member and a plunger within the body member and having one end portion thereof movable into and out of a selected one of a plurality of sockets in the movable member in response to movement of a cam follower on the plunger along a cam surface on the body member. In a quick release mechanism, a prong is retained around a skewer, the skewer extending from a fork block, between a bearing surface on the fork block and a bearing surface on a movable member. The movable member is mounted on the skewer and is axially movable thereon. The movable member is moved toward the fork block through a predetermined distance by a moving device which is mounted on the skewer and is axially movable relative thereto. The range of movement of the moving device is adjusted by an adjusting knob which is positioned at various axial positions on the skewer.

In order to lock an implement to a belt, a locking system is provided having a main pin fixed to the belt, the main pin having a first groove therein, and a casing rotatably mounted on the main pin, the outer casing having a locating hole therein. The implement is thus locked to the belt by aligning the locating hole with the first groove; inserting a male pin to which the implement is attached into the locating hole to a position in which a second groove of the male pin is aligned with the first groove in the main pin; and rotating the male pin relative to the main pin such as to rotate the outer casing, until the second groove is not aligned with the first groove, whereby the male pin is held by the main pin in the casing, thereby to lock the implement to the belt.

Quad cane

A quad cane includes a stabilizing device for improving the strength and rigidity of the cane. The stabilizing device comprises a collar having an interior opening therein and a wing screw which is threadably received in a hole which communicates the interior opening of the collar to the exterior thereof. The collar is drive fit over the exterior hollow sleeve of the upper portion of the quad cane in such a way that the threaded hole is located opposite an aperture in the sleeve. By rotating the threaded wing screw downwardly it is possible to impinge against the inner tubular member and immobilize the outer hollow sleeve relative to the inner tubular member of the cane. The stabilizing device is typically used in conjunction with a spring-loaded push button which serves to help adjust the height of the quad cane.
