The fibers can be admixed during the production of the hot mix, to the mixture of solid particles and the bituminous bonding agent. It is also possible to admix the fibers to the solid particles prior to the intermixing thereof with the bonding agent. During the compacting of the hot mix to form the blacktop, the metallic fibers are bent and thus cling to the particles of the solid particle portion and/or intermesh with each other in the fashion of a fleece of randomly oriented fibers.

A process for manufacturing fiberboard by preparing a fiber slurry mixture including containing cellulose fibers and water then atomizing a liquid bituminous material, such as asphalt. The liquid bituminous material is atomized by mixing it with a pressurized gas, such as compressed air, forming a mist comprising droplets of bituminous material having a diameter between 20 microns and 50 microns. A water spray solidifies the bituminous material droplets thereby forming bituminous particles which fall into the fiber slurry within the spray chamber. From there the slurry is sheared, dewatered, and dried, forming a finished fiberboard.

The film-based laminate, comprising a center film having a Young's modulus of at least 200,000 psi (ASTM D 882), is surprisingly discovered to have synergistic properties to provide an average impact energy, as determined in accordance with the 60° impact test, which far exceeds the additive impact energy of the components and which reflects more accurately the performance of the laminate in the actual backfill situation.

A gutter cover for directing the flow of rainwater from a building roof into a gutter mounted to the peripheral edge thereof while preventing debris such as leaves and twigs from entering and clogging the gutter. The cover is secured to the roof of the building such that rainwater flowing down the shingles will flow across the cover at the bottom roof line. A lower end of the cover has an arcuate nose disposed substantially above the outer edge of the gutter. The surface of the gutter is treated with one or more combinations of coatings and/or substrate textures to slow the flow of water while improving flow to the cover surface. Rainwater will flow around the arcuate nose into the gutter while debris carried by the rainwater is expelled outwardly over the edge of the gutter.
