Each angle-cutting edge is located at the trailing side of the window. When the cylindrical wall is caused to rotate and the pipe is inserted into the inner space of the cylindrical wall, the angle-cutting edges shave off the outer diameter of the pipe-end section. The base section has one or more openings and one or more front-cutting edges located on the trailing side of the openings. An electronic control system is programmed to control movement of a cutting tool relative to a rotating workpiece. After engagement of the stock, the tool is controlled to follow a curved path until the cutting surface of the tool reaches a predetermined depth of cut in the stock. The tool is then controlled to follow a straight/linear path, with the cutting surface of the tool engaged with the stock at said predetermined depth of cut. The control system varies the feed rate as the tool rolls into cut along a known path of curvature, to control the thickness of the material which is removed as the tool rolls into cut, e.g. to induce fracture as the material begins to coil. The feed rate as the tool rolls into cut is programmed to vary in relation to an arc of engagement between a cutting surface of the cutting tool and the stock into which the cutting tool is being moved.

A method of treating a thrombus in an artery using a repetitive cyclical pattern for aspiration , the method comprising:inserting a distal end of a catheter into the artery, wherein the thrombus is distal to the distal end of the catheter, the catheter being a microcatheter, a distal access microcatheter, or a guide catheter, the thrombus causing acute ischemic stroke due to occlusion of the artery;choosing the cyclical pattern from a plurality of stored cyclical patterns, the cyclical pattern comprising repetition of a first suction level, a second suction level different than the first suction level;arresting flow in the artery including inflating a balloon proximal to the thrombus and stopping anterograde forward flow proximal to the thrombus during aspirating the thrombus; andaspirating the thrombus using negative pressure through the catheter, the negative pressure varying according to the chosen cyclical pattern by an automated negative suction device.2. A Knuckle Jointed Lance (KJL), comprising a segmented lance including a plurality of elongate and hollow KJL segments in a concatenated string thereof. The first segment end of one KJL segment is rotatably connected to the second segment end of a neighboring KJL segment via a pinned connection. Neighboring pairs of KJL segments together provide an interlocking toothed connection such that each interlocking toothed connection restrains relative torsional displacement between the neighboring pair of KJL segments. In other embodiments, pinned connections also provide ears, each with cooperating ear ledges and ear ledge recesses to strengthen the pinned connection. 1. A Knuckle Jointed Lance (KJL) , comprising:a segmented lance, the lance including a plurality of elongate and hollow KJL segments in a concatenated string thereof;wherein each KJL segment has a longitudinal axis, and has first and second segment ends; (1) the first segment end of one KJL segment in the pair is rotatably connected to the second segment end of the other KJL segment in the pair via a pinned connection such that when the pair of KJL segments is in longitudinal axis alignment, the KJL segments are restrained from relative rotation about the pinned connection except in a first rotational direction only; and', '(2) the first segment end of the one KJL segment in the pair provides a first sloped portion, the first sloped portion facing a second sloped portion provided on the second segment end of the other KJL segment in the pair, such that contact between the first and second sloped portions limits relative rotation of the KJL segments about the pinned connection in the first rotational direction; and, 'wherein, for each neighboring pair of KJL segments in the concatenated stringwherein, for at least one neighboring pair of KJL segments, the first segment end on the one KJL segment and the second segment end on the other KJL segment together provide an interlocking toothed connection such that ...

The support structure may include a plurality of first ribs, and at least some of the first ribs at least partially form cavities in the support structure. A fabric cutting system and/or method can include a mandrel having a body and first and second legs, a chuck, the chuck configured to receive either one of the legs or body to rotatingly support the mandrel. The mandrel can be rotated and the fabric mounted on the mandrel can be cut about the leg at a location beyond the end of the other leg. One of the legs can include a leg extension removable from a leg base that when removed allows the other leg to be cut beyond the end of the leg base. The fabric can be cut with a cutting laser, which may be a multi-axis laser, and/or have low power. 1. A method of cutting a fabric , comprising:mounting a tubular fabric having a plurality of fabric limbs onto a mandrel comprising a body, a first leg, and a second leg shorter than the first leg; inserting the first leg into a center of a chuck;rotating the mandrel within the chuck; andcutting the entire circumference of the fabric about the first leg at a location beyond the end of the second leg.2. The method of claim 1 , the first leg comprising a leg extension removably attached to a leg base claim 1 , the method further comprising:removing the mandrel from the chuck; removing the leg extension from the leg base;folding a portion of the fabric leg extending beyond the leg base back onto itself on the leg base;inserting the second leg into the chuck;rotating the mandrel within the chuck; andcutting the entire circumference of the fabric about the second leg at a location beyond the end of the leg base of the first leg.3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:removing the mandrel from the chuck;inserting the mandrel body into the chuck;rotating the mandrel within the chuck; andcutting the entire circumference of the fabric about the mandrel body.4. A tool turret for machining workpieces has a housing and with a part that can be rotated around an axis of rotation into several rotary positions. On the rotating part, several tool holders are mounted on the circumference for holding tools to which a cryogenic cooling medium can be fed by means of a first feed line and a respective second feed line. The first feed line can be moved in a linear manner in at least some sections by a linear actuator whereby the first feed line is connected in a first position with the second feed line belonging to the tool in work position and in a second position is disconnected from the second feed lines for changing the rotary position of the rotating part. The tool turret enables the cryogenic cooling medium to be fed to the tools in a simple and reliable manner.

Fluidic system for monitoring machine tool wear during a machining operation

A machine tool movable toward and away from a workpiece carries a nozzle for discharging fluid under pressure onto the workpiece. Changes in pressure of the discharging fluid are monitored as an indication of changes in the distance between the nozzle and the workpiece. The fluid is preferably directed onto machined workpiece portions just after they have come into engagement with the tool. The changes in pressure are monitored to provide a continuous indication of cutting tool wear. As the cutting tool wears away, the gap between the nozzle and the workpiece grows smaller causing a corresponding rise in pressure of the discharging fluid.

A flexible seal cooperates with a workpiece at a location proximal to the chuck jaws to restrict flow of a pressurized fluid. Flow resistance varies at this location with the presence or absence of sufficient chucking stock. A pressure switch senses the resulting fluid backpressure which varies with the resistance of the flow path and generates a signal indicative of the presence or absence of sufficient chucking stock which is used to control functions of a machine tool.
