A cutting tool such as a tile saw is pivotally connected to a linear guide rod with a four-bar linkage. The linkage allows the cutting tool to be raised and lowered over a work table to facilitate plunge cutting. One link of the four-bar linkage is mounted over the linear guide rod in a fixed perpendicular relationship with the surface of the work table to ensure that the blade of the cutting tool is maintained in a similar perpendicular orientation throughout plunge cutting. This is achieved by adjusting the links of the four-bar linkage as a parallelogram linkage. A linear bearing is fitted between the fixed perpendicular link and the guide rod to allow the cutting tool and linkage to freely slide along an accurate linear cutting path.

A cutter head mounted upon a cloth spreading machine for longitudinal movement widthwise of the cloth spreading machine for transversely cutting cloth laid upon a cutting table. An elongated handle member is swivelly connected to said cutter head for manual movement of the cutter head over the entire width of the cloth spreading machine by an operator standing on one side of the spreading machine. The cutter head may be removed from the spreading machine and the handle member may be rendered rigid with respect to the cutter head, so that the cutter head may be manipulated for cutting cloth independently of the cloth spreading machine.

A machine for cutting concrete blocks especially continuously molded, highway dividing barriers of the New Jersey type, in a very fast and easy manner. The machine is mounted on a support base forming part of a powered truck-like vehicle and includes a primary extensible boom that is mounted on the support base so as to extend horizontally laterally thereof and be adjustably tiltable about its longitudinal axis. The machine also includes a secondary extensible boom that is mounted on the exntesible end of the primary boom. Both of these booms extend ina same plane, and the secondary boom is downwardly tiltable about an axis transversal to both of the primary and secondary booms. A rotary, concrete-cutting saw assembly is mounted at the bottom end of the secondary boom. This assembly includes a saw blade that extends parallel to the plane in which said primary and secondary booms extgend. Advantageously, the lateral orientation of the primary boom with respect to the front-to-rear axis of the vehicle may also be made adjustable.

Cloth cutting apparatus adapted for use on a cloth rewinding machine comprising a track secured to the rewinding machine and extending generally horizontally, the track being positioned so that the cloth being rewound passes thereover prior to being wound up into a bolt. The track is constituted by a length of tubing having a slot extending longitudinally thereof with the slot facing the cloth. A carriage having rollers thereon is received in the tube so as to mount the carriage for movement along the track. The cutting apparatus includes a rotary cutting blade and drive means for the cutter blade carried by the carriage, the latter being movable along the track with the cutter blade driven by the drive means to cut the cloth.

A cutting workstation which includes a miter gauge. The miter gauge consists of a clamping means whereby the gauge may be fixed to any location upon the length of cutting station work surface. The miter gauge arm is hinged to clamping means by a plate which may be rotated and then fixed at any angle. The arm is extendable and at its distal end exhibits a T shaped plate and fence which itself may be rotated to any angle. The ability to fix the miter gauge at any position along the cutting station work surface along with two means of adjusting angles allows the fence to guide the work piece at virtually any angle.

The cutting of coated workpieces of timber etc. uses a manually guided circular saw, along a guide, with a motor housing with a saw blade. The latter is height-adjustable on a base plate. A guide shoe coacts with the guide, and is movable on the base plate at right angles to the direction of cut. In a first step, the cover layer (5) of the workpiece (6) is cut, aligned with a first scoring position of the saw blade (4). In a second step, the cover layer is cut aligned with a second, transverse scoring position. The workpiece cross section is then completely cut, with the saw in opposite direction blade in position between the two scoring ones.
