Finally, an adjustable trigger mechanism for initiating operation of the clipper is disclosed.

TITLE OF THE INVENTION: METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING AND TRIMMING THREE-DIMENSIONAL WORK PIECES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: Three-dimensional work pieces, such as instrument panels or dashboards, are made of initially flat stock or of synthetic material such as a two-component foamably material. The tools of the present apparatus include upper and lower holding tools which are preferably si-multaneously shaping tools, and cutting or trimming tools. The upper tools and the cutting or trimming tools may have a common support which is preferably ex-changeably secured in a main frame. The shaping tools are moved into a first cooperating position relative to each other, whereby the work piece is formed into the desired shape. The shaping tools may then be locked in the shaping position or they may be moved into a second cooperating position to be rigidly locked in the second position. A tool support such as a table carried by a scissors lift frame is used for moving the shaping tools into the desired positions. The cutting or trimming is then performed by applying pressure to the respective tools. A curing time may be provided between the form-ing step and the cutting or trimming step.

The cutter blade portion is moved into the lower position to cut a workpiece supported on the base using the moving blade. The laser generator is attached to the holder or the cutter blade portion in an orientation to direct at least a portion of the laser light onto a position on the workpiece that is directly beneath the cutter blade portion when the cutter blade portion is in the upper position. Alternatively, a holder has a shaft support portion, and a slide shaft is axially slidably supported by the shaft support portion. A front end of the slide shaft has a hinge holder which pivotally supports the cutting blade portion. A laser generator is fixed to a front side of the hinge holder.

An ejector bolt is provided in a bore within each punch to commence the stripping operation at the commencement of the retractive movement.

The upper die assembly includes an actuator and a die block supporting plural sets of cutter blades arranged in patterns to cut rectangular shaped semiconductor packages out of the substrate in a single cutting operation at a single station. The lower die assembly includes plural punch members movable relative to a die block, which includes a support surface for supporting the substrate in a predetermined position as determined by spaced apart locator pins on the lower die assembly registerable with corresponding locator holes in a carrier frame for the substrate. Separated or singulated semiconductor packages are retained by vacuum in recesses in the upper die assembly defined by the cutter blades and the packages are ejected by a burst of compressed air for further processing.

Additionally, a lower blade guard is provided for use on a circular saw having a clear viewing window on the upper blade guard. The lower blade guard has a truncated portion that allows a line of sight between the workpiece being sawed and the clear viewing window even when the lower guard is in a fully retracted position.

Preferably, a plurality of S-shaped hooks (24) are connected to the key-hole notches, and serve to reinforce the rotary die plate and to support the cutting rule in the rotary die plate. The die plate is preferably formed from an epoxy material that, upon hardening or setting, exhibits a low shrink factor.

The force application member may also be curved for applying the force, such as a cutting force to an equally curved tool such as a strip steel knife. The force application member is returned to its starting position after a ?ork stroke is completed. The work stroke is performed by expanding the member with the aid of a medium under pressure. The return is accomplished by a spring force or similar expansion member.

Each board is then delivered to an elongate saw feeding table which includes a transversely movable guide fence, and the board is then fed through a multiple rip saw having bla-des of differing separations, to thereby form a plurality of separate wood components. The transverse movement of the fence is automatically adjusted by a computer control, which includes the stored value of the boun-daries of the maximum clear area of the board, and so that the board is ripped into the number and size of wood components which achieves a maximum yield from each board. Also, the saw feeding table includes a fixed sup-port frame, and guide means for supporting the transverse movement of the fence while maintaining a high degree of accuracy in its alignment with respect to the fixed sup-port frame.

The windings which are placed in a spiral or helical manner around a guide element and are moved parallel to the longitudinal extension thereof, are severed in the transition region between the scrap windings of the front segment and the subsequent temporarily retained or stopped good windings, and the further conveyed scrap windings are removed from the region of the guide element after a separating or dividing procedure; later, the good windings are separated in the transition region to the subsequent temporarily retained or stopped scrap windings of the rear segment, and are moved toward the collecting device before releasing the scrap windings and before the latter are divided or separated and removed from the region of the guide element. The apparatus comprises at least one separating cutter; a plurality of scrap cutters subsequently connected in the direction of movement of the winding packages, the cutting edges of the scrap cutters being pivotally arranged in the region of the windings with respect to a guide element which movably supports the winding packages in the longitudinal direction; and two stop elements arranged sequentially in the direction of movement of the winding packages, these stop elements being movable toward the guide element and be-tween two adjacent windings.

A peeler block is formed previously on its opposite end faces with markings the centers of which define an optimum axis about which the block should be rotated for achieving maximum yield in peeling veneer from the block in a rotary veneer lathe. An apparatus is disclosed herein which is designed to detecting such markings at two different detecting stations and finally positioning the block such that its optimum axis is set parallel to the axes of spindles of a rotary veneer lathe is disclosed. At the first station, the markings are detected by a first pair of image sensors such as CCD cameras having lenses with a short focal length hence wide-angle viewing capability. After the detection, the block P is transferred to the second detecting station under the control by a computer control in such a way that the detected respective markings may reach predetermined positions at the second detecting station, where the markings are detected by a second pair of image sensors having lenses with a long focal length for high resolution capability so that the markings are detected with increased accuracy. The block P is further transferred to a third station under the control of the computer control so that it can be positioned at the third station with the optimum axis of the block P expending substantially in parallel to the axes of the lathe spindles.

A preferred embodiment of the present invention is directed to a modular saw guard system for a power saw of the type which has a table top, a rotatable circular saw blade that is vertically adjustable relative to the table top, the table top having an opening through which the saw blade can extend, the blade being configured to cut a work piece as the work piece is moved forwardly from a forward position to a rearward position, wherein the system comprises a riving knife mechanism releasably mounted to the saw rearwardly of the blade, and being configured to be adjustable between retracted and extended positions relative to the blade, a blade guard mechanism that is releasably mounted to the riving knife mechanism when the riving knife mechanism is at least in its extended position, the blade guard mechanism generally covering the blade and being adjustable to enable a work piece to be moved into cutting position by the blade and a kickback prevention mechanism that is releasably mounted to the riving knife mechanism when the riving knife mechanism is at least in its extended position, the kickback prevention mechanism being configured to engage a work piece as it is being cut by the blade and apply resistance to prevent the work piece from being expelled in the reverse direction.

A laser guiding device is adjustably connected to a protection member on a top surface of the tile cutting machine so as to produce a laser beam on a tile to be cut. An adjusting screw threadedly and transversely extends through the laser guiding device and the protection member such that the position of the laser generating piece of the laser guiding device can be adjusted. The laser beam is visible regardless of the surface condition of the tile. A first fence is pivotably connected to an open bottom of the protection member to cover the rotating blade. A second fence is pivotably connected to the protection member and is pivoted upward by the tile so as to pivot the first fence upward.
