The preparation method comprises the following steps: stirring 3-isopropyl-5-cresol and dimethyl carbamoyl chloride according to a feeding ratio of 1: 10 (g: mL) at 150 DEG C to react for 8 hours, cooling the reaction liquid, filtering to obtain a solid, and drying to obtain 3-isopropyl-5-methylphenyl-N, N-dimethyl carbamate with the purity of more than 97%, and the yield is close to 90%.
