PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine that rotates a rotor at high speed by a relatively simple structure. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine 1 includes a cylindrical rotor 3 which rotates in the circumferential direction, and a stator 4 which is provided outside the rotor 3 via an air gap to generate a magnetic field for rotating the rotor 3. The rotor 3 has a rotor core 6 in which a magnet hole is created in the direction of the rotating shaft, a permanent magnet 7 which is provided in the magnet hole, and a nonmagnetic member which is provided at the surface on the rotor peripheral side of a permanent magnet 7. SOLUTION: The motor (4) includes the motor body (6) and the winding changer (5) changing over a winding for the motor body. In the motor (4), the motor body includes a motor housing with a first coolant path in the inside and a stator fixed onto the internal surface of the motor housing to include a winding. In the motor (4), the winding changer includes a winding changing box body mounted on the external surface of the motor housing with a second coolant path formed in the inside and a heat generating component mounted on the external surface of the winding changing box body and used for changing over the winding.
