The present invention relates to functional fiber for adsorbing heavy metals and a method for producing the same. The functional fiber for adsorbing heavy metals according to the present application has a structure in which thiolated metal nanoparticles are attached to porous fiber, thereby minimizing pore clogging of the porous fiber and thus remarkably improving the adsorption capacity of heavy metal materials. In addition, since the functional fiber for adsorbing heavy metals is produced by applying a dry technique without liquid-phase impregnation, the pore clogging of the porous fiber can be minimized and the generation of process wastewater can be fundamentally blocked. Furthermore, since a roll-to-roll system can be easily implemented, continuous production is possible and thus productivity can be improved.
