The present invention relates to a flux supplied to an upper portion of ingot steel in a tundish, and a casting method using the same. The flux contains 45-60 wt% of SiO_2 based on a total 100 wt% of flux; a first composite including 20-40 wt% of MgO; and a second composite including a component to control a melting point and viscosity of the flux and the re-oxidation of the ingot steel. The flux is able to totally be displaced with SiO_2-based and Al_2O_3-based flux conventionally used in accordance with a tundish operation environment, or is able to be used by being partially mixed with the SiO_2-based and Al_2O_3-based flux. That is, the flux is able to increase heat conservation of the ingot steel; suppress re-oxidation of the ingot steel; easily absorb inclusions; and minimize melting of refractory materials by providing flux which includes SiO_2 and MgO as a basic composition.
