The present invention relates to a red light emitting phosphor containing lithium-aluminum having a narrow half width and a light emitting device including the same. The phosphor of the present invention may be represented by chemical formula, M_aLi_bAl_cO_d: R_e, Q_f, wherein a is 0 < a <= 10, b is 0 < b <= 10, c is 0 < c <= 10, d is 0 < d <= 30, e is 0 < e < a, a+b+c <= 30, f is 0 <= f <= e, M is one or more selected from the group consisting of Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Ra, Y, and Lu, R is one or more selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal and a transition metal, and Q is one or more selected from the group consisting of an alkali metal, an alkali earth metal and a trivalent transition metal. The phosphor according to the present invention can improve color reproduction rate, can emit a light with a central wavelength of 650 nm or more, and has excellent thermal properties even at high temperatures at the same time since the phosphor has a narrow half width of 45 nm or less.
