Disclosed are a method for producing an isotropic pitch using radiation, and an isotropic pitch produced thereby. The method for producing an isotropic pitch using radiation is a method for producing an isotropic pitch, and comprises the steps of: (a) dispersing and mixing a carbon source and a catalyst; (b) heating the dispersed and mixed mixture; and (c) irradiating radiation to the heated mixture. According to the present invention, compared to a conventional pitch modifying method, radiation is irradiated, and a pitch can be modified in a short time at a relatively low temperature, so energy and time spent in modifying a pitch can be saved.
