The present invention relates to a coil drive device for a magnetic contactor, having an anti-release function of preventing abnormal release or recovering (reclosing) when a magnetic contactor is suspected of being released by an external environment factor of the magnetic contactor. The coil drive device comprises a release current detecting unit positioned between a mutually parallel connection point of a coil for magnetizing a fixed core and a discharge circuit for discharging the coil, and a release determining unit determining a release using the current detected by the release current detecting unit.
