A method for diagnosing a makeup tool of the present invention comprises the steps of: acquiring state information of the makeup tool through a smart terminal; transmitting the state information of the makeup tool from the smart terminal to a server; acquiring initial state information of the makeup tool stored in the server; diagnosing the state of the makeup tool on the basis of the transmitted diagnostic information of the makeup tool and the acquired initial state information of the makeup tool so as to generate diagnostic information of the makeup tool; transmitting the generated diagnostic information of the makeup tool from the server to the smart terminal; and displaying the transmitted diagnostic information. The present invention may protect a user's skin by detecting contamination of the makeup tool in advance, and protect the user from an imitation by detecting a forgery of the makeup tool in advance.
