A main object of the present invention is to provide a static induction light emitting transistor having an organic EL element structure and a vertical FET structure which is possible to avoid a problem of the shielding of light and a problem of shielding of electric field by a gate electrode. The above object is achieved by providing a light emitting transistor 11 of a vertical FET structure comprising: on a substrate 12 ; a source electrode 13 ; a hole transporting layer 14 in which a slit-shaped gate electrode 15 is embedded; an equipotential layer 16 ; light emitting layer 17 ; and a transparent or semitransparent drain electrode 18 , provided in this order. In this light emitting transistor, the drain electrode 18 provided on the opposite side of the gate electrode 15 , viewing from the light emitting layer 17 , is transparent or semitransparent. Therefore, light generated in the light emitting layer 17 can be taken out from the drain electrode side. An electron transporting layer 19 can be provided between the light emitting layer 17 and the drain electrode 18.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic detection element which can reduce variation in distance between shields as compared with prior art, and to provide its fabrication process. SOLUTION: A first RIE stopper layer 36 is formed on a free magnetic layer 28 and a second RIE stopper layer 42 is formed on a bias layer 41. In the fabrication process, the RIE stopper layers 36 and 42 function as a stopper when a layer formed on the RIE stopper layers 36 and 42 is removed by RIE. Since the RIE process is ended when the first and second RIE stopper layers 36 and 42 located at the substantially same height are exposed, variation in height of the upper surface of a lamination 22 and the upper surface of a region where the bias layer 41 is formed to spread to the opposite sides thereof can be reduced and variation in distance between shields can be reduced as compared with prior art. A magnetoresistive-effect device includes a multilayer film, hard bias layers arranged on both sides of the multilayer film, and electrode layers respectively deposited on the hard bias layers. The electrode layers are formed, extending over the multilayer film. Under the influence of the hard bias layers arranged on both sides of the multilayer, the multilayer film, forming the magnetoresistive-effect device, has, on the end portions thereof, insensitive regions which exhibit no substantial magnetoresistive effect. The insensitive region merely increases a direct current resistance. By extending the electrode layers over the insensitive regions of the multilayer film, a sense current is effectively flown from the electrode layer into the multilayer film. With a junction area between the electrode layer and the multilayer film increased, the direct current resistance is reduced, while the reproduction characteristics of the device are thus improved.

Each of the holes has an opening (20a) exposed at the reference surface, and a bottom (20b) facing a second surface (18b) on the attachment side. Light incident on the anti-reflective film is mostly introduced into the holes through the openings and diffused by the bottoms, thereby avoiding reflection at a predetermined angle. The ratio of a connecting surface which reflects light is suppressed to increase the ratio of the openings, thereby maximizing the anti-reflective ability of the anti-reflective structure.
