Component mounting mechanism for printed circuit boards - has positioning and shaping members holding component and bending wires for insertion into holes

The machine for mounting components (19) on printed circuit panels has a set of pressure members and cutters which remove the components one at a time from a magazine and cut their connecting wires (22) to length. The component is then supported from underneath by a positioning member (13) while the wire is first bent vertically downwards. A forming member (21) then acts against the end of the component to hold the wire, then moves inwards to shape the wire against the positioning member so as to bend it inwards by a certain amount. The component is raised and lowered so that the free end of the wire is inserted in a hole in the printed circuit, assisted by a pressure member (16) which is lowered alongside the forming member, to press against the horizontal part of the wire projecting from the component.
