The present invention is directed to compositions and methods for dust control in particular in industrial operations such as mining. More particularly, the dust controlling agents are functionalized polysaccharides, partially oxidized polysaccharides that may or may not also be functionalized, or salts thereof. 1. A method of dust control in an environment comprising:mixing a polymer containing one or more amine and/or alkyl moieties and an aqueous liquid to form a mixture; andapplying the mixture to an area that generates dust.2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer comprises natural claim 1 , oxidized or partially oxidized saccharide claim 1 , polysaccharide claim 1 , saccharide or polysaccharide derivative claim 1 , or a combination thereof.3. The method of claim 2 , wherein the partially oxidized saccharide claim 2 , polysaccharide claim 2 , saccharide derivative claim 2 , or polysaccharide derivative contains intact glycosidic bonds.4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer comprises a levan claim 1 , chitosan claim 1 , guar gum claim 1 , starch claim 1 , scleroglucan claim 1 , welan claim 1 , xanthan gum claim 1 , dextran claim 1 , schizophyllan claim 1 , cellulose claim 1 , or combinations thereof.5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer has a molecular weight of from about 5 kDa to about 50 claim 1 ,000 kDa.6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer comprises amino dextran claim 1 , amino levan claim 1 , amino guar or a combination thereof.7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more amine moieties comprises one or more primary claim 1 , diamine and/or tetra-amine moieties.8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymer comprises partially oxidized dextran diethyl amine claim 1 , partially oxidized levan diethyl amine claim 1 , partially oxidized sugar guar diethyl amine claim 1 , or a combination thereof.9.
