A 3D surface wound, injury, and personal protective equipment (PPE) data entry system provides an easily usable graphical user interface through which an examiner can objectively record data relating to surface wounds and injuries sustained by a subject human, as well as PPE used when the wounds/injuries were sustained. The system includes a 3D human model onto which the examiner draws the surface wound(s) and/or damage to the PPE. The subject human's record is stored in a database of similar records. The database records comprise quantifiable, objective data that is easily compared and analyzed. An analysis tool can aggregate a selected population of human subjects within the database to create wound density information that can be statistically analyzed and/or displayed on a standard 3D human model. Such objective wound density information may facilitate improved medical and/or tactical training, and improved PPE design.

A mechanism is provided for protecting storage fabrics from an errant device causing a single point of failure. The mechanism identities a source of the out-of-context traffic, isolates the TAG to prevent further catastrophe, and ensures that device isolation control operations are processed timely allowing device isolation and removing the source of the issue. Should device isolation not solve the issue, the mechanism allows the host to use a binary search method to isolate the device that may be hiding its true identity and sourcing possibly malicious traffic. 1. A method , in a controlling device in a storage fabric , for protecting the storage fabric from an errant device causing a single point of failure , the method comprising:responsive to receiving from a failing device an out-of-context frame at the controlling device, identifying a TAG identifier associated with the out-of-context frame;removing, by the controlling device, the TAG identifier as a candidate for reuse;starting, by the controlling device, an isolation timer associated with the TAG identifier; andresponsive to expiration of the isolation timer, returning, by the controlling device, the TAG identifier as a candidate for reuse.2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:notifying a host device that initiated an IO operation associated with the TAG identifier of an out-of-context frame event associated with the TAG identifier.3. Storing data volumes in virtual and physical address spaces such that the data units are contiguous in virtual address space but fragmented in physical address space. The mapping between virtual and physical address space is managed by a storage controller that is configured to implement deletes reversibly with a so-called soft delete, the soft delete being reversible up to a later permanent or hard delete. A soft delete triggers a compaction in which the data units of the to-be-deleted volume are gathered together in physical address space. During the time between compaction and hard delete (or restore), the soft deleted volume is thus stored in a space efficient manner. Moreover, the subsequent hard delete can be performed more quickly than if the soft deleted volume were still fragmented across physical address space freeing up space quicker.

A counter ( 122 ) for each port records data transfers in which the amount of data received at a destination port is less than an expected amount of data. When a transfer with less than the expected amount of data is identified for a data flow between a sending port ( 201 ) and a destination port ( 214 ), the counters are incremented for each port ( 202, 203, 204, 205, 214 ) after the sending port up to and including the destination port. An apparatus to detect a fiber channel miscabling event includes a module configured to identify a connection made between first and second unlike devices in a fiber channel topology. If an unlike connection identified to have been made the module enables an upstream port of the second device, leaving a downstream port of the second device disabled. A method to detect a fiber channel miscabling event includes detecting a fiber channel cable connection configuration, determining whether a connection is made between first and second unlike fiber channel units, and enabling an upstream port of the second fiber channel unit while keeping a downstream port of the second fiber channel unit disabled if an unlike connection is determined to have been made.

The loop network has two loops and a plurality of dual-ported devices each with one port on each loop. The method includes selectively bypassing redundant ports on the loops by a first command means in the form of a Fiber Channel Arbitrated Loop command to balance port accesses and to reduce the loop overhead by reducing the number of ports in each loop. In the event of a fault, bypassing the port of a device by a second command means in the form of a non Fiber Channel Arbitrated Loop command and enabling all the bypassed redundant ports with a single command to all ports using the first command means. The first command means does not enable the port bypassed by the second command means.

When a block is deleted from the cache 218, the data is written to the storage device with the lower compression ratio 220. If the system determines that a block is frequently used 222, it is compressed with the higher compression ratio 224.
