A poster display hoarding comprises a cable tensioning system for tensioning a poster. The poster is attached to a primary cable which extends around cable guides provided round a frame of the hoarding and the poster is stretched as the primary cable is tautened. A cable management system is provided whereby the primary cable is attached to a large diameter pulley and a tensioning cable is attached to a coaxial small diameter, such that small movements of the tensioning cable are converted into large movements of the primary cable. The tensioning cable may be attached to a manual winch and may pass through a tension retention mechanism. As well as tensioning the poster, the primary cable also enables the poster to be lowered or raised so that it can be changed without ladders.

A winch is provided for tensioning a poster mounted to a hoarding by means of grips attached to the periphery of the poster and connected together and to the winch by means of a cable. The cable is routed through cable guides so that when the cable is tightened the poster is evenly tensioned. The winch comprises an electric winch including a motor 21, an electrical power source, a cable end connector 18 for connecting to an end of the cable and a mounting bracket 20 for attachment to a poster hoarding. The mounting bracket is preferably designed so that the winch can be removably attached. A pair of cams may be provided to grip the cable and prevent it from becoming loose so that the winch can be removed once the poster has been suitably tensioned. The winch further comprises a threaded shaft 19 connected to the cable end connector 18, the shaft being rotated to move it along its axis.
